called a power bulge hood.
I think they only fit up to '84, after that the headlights changed and it wouldn't fit at the front.

I like mine

Yep, its the Powerbuldge hood.

I didn't know that the 82-84's hood was different from the 85-92, I really didn't.

Dont worry though, there are 85-92 style powerbuldge hoods, they were on the Formulas

Like what I have on mine.

There were only two variations of the bulged hood, some were aluminum some were steel. 82-84 or 87-92 doesn't matter as both were available both years.

The headlights changed size, the actual sealed beams switched from large to small, the doors interchange and line up with the hood the same way.

Also, the headlights didn't change until 90 or 91...

I was under the impression that 1982-1992 Firebird/Transam hoods were the same, and that the only difference in the headlights in 1991-1992 was that the cover said Pontiac.

I purchased a 1989 Headlight assemblily simply for the headlight cover, so Pontiac wouldn't be visible, and it fit.

cooltc2004, you are correct, any year 3rd gen TA/firebird hood will fit on any other year. in 1991, the headlights changed a bit because of the new banshee style nose.

This is a 1984 T/A hood on a 1991 Firebird, I did a couple of years ago.

Leon.

Wow Leon!
That paint on that '91 looks really wet! And deep too!
Is that a factory color?
That looks really great!
I wish our car looks that good!

Thanks George

That is the factory color, I think it's code 81 Bright Red.
Does that sound right?

You should have seen that hood before I painted it,
it was is rough shape, with hail dents covering the whole thing.
But I guess it looked alright when finished.
The bumper cover had to be stripped down to the urethane because it was cracking and pealing, everywhere, too.

Leon.

Yep,
Stock color! I just never saw it look so wet and deep before!
Ours has faded, even with some of the clearcoat peeling! Time for a repaint, I know!
Tell me more about that car please!
We have put on that hood onto our car, and a '92 decklid with the wrqparound rear spoiler (still silver for now), and '85-'90 Trans Am/GTA taillights. We have a 305 TBI car. Red with automatic.
