did you carpet your center counsle yourself. It doesnt look like a factory grey but it does look good. How did you do it if you did it yourself

Thanks for the compliments guys few answers to some questions that were asked.

Does the screen glare? Slightly..might be annoying to some but it doesnt both me at all its a very faint glare...the gf wouldnt even notice it unless i told her.

Took me prolly 4 months or so cause it was a long slow process...did the headliner first then the carpet and interior panels...then tore out the console again to replace that. I kinda took stuff out and put back in a lot so i went back and forth. Overall though prolly cost me about $700. I got great deals on lots of stuff from lots of members on this board so that helped. Spraying all the panels black saved lots of money right there too.

Questions about spraying the interior parts...

Took them off, using paint thinner/strong degreaser, that with some steel wool and scuffed them up good so they were nice and sanded and very clean. Then just sprayed them...did prolly 3-4 coats. They need a long time to heal honestly i coulda waited longer(as in prolly 1-2 weeks). It will chip or scratch if you lets say hit ur toolbox on it...ask me how i know lol. I would not suggest painting the door sills or the kicker panels from where people sit the most after awhile it can chip off there. But right now i dont have a problem after putting more coats on its not a problem. Stuff does not smear/wipe off/melt/get on your clothes at all. Definently worth it to me.

wow i type to much...

Also its really funny cause now im re-thinking about doing my whole interior in tweed...lol

Very, very nice job bro. You seem to share many of the idea's I have for my interior. Fortunately for me I don't need to do any color-changing or dyeing.

I like what you did with the dash vents and especially the emblem- nice touch.

He got a great deal on the seats!! lol it looks great man, you should have told me you had pics!

It helps to look around on the board for members who can help you out! I had no use for my cloth seats anymore, so he got them for something like $315.00 shipped for the entire set.

But it was worth it because I got to put my own new set in

Awsome look, Steve!

hey there, ya ill be alright for now but your never on aim to show you the pics! glad you find my thread though.

I was toying with the idea to paint the outter part of the vents silver and i tried it but it looked to tacky...so i scratched that idea. I really like the grey/black theme as i tryed to keep it. Thanks for the compliments.

I carpeted my own center console. I got 1 big roll of black automotive carpet from Pep Boys and 1 can of 3M interior adhesive (the good stuff, it costs like $11 a can). After taking the console out and peeling the old carpet and glue away, I laid a rectangular piece over the console and trimmed it to fit where it needed to be trimmed. Follow the directions on the glue spray (3 light coats on each part, then join together) and let it cure for about 3-4 hours. I also did my kick panels this way.

This isn't the greatest pic in the world, but you get the idea:

Steve, I'm in the process of buying some 4th gen seats for my car. I'm torn right now because i got an amazing deal on some mint CLOTH seats outta a 93 Z28 ($125 for front and rears!) or i could spring for some leather ones for a few hundred more.

My main question is, how comfortable are the cloth early 4th gen seats? How much of an improvement are they over the 3rd gens?

I had cloth seats out of a 96 before I got my leather. They were a huge improvement over the stock 89 seats I had.
