I had a simple fix to this. A small round powerful magnet, place it right in the middle on that metal peice sticking out. It has been there for the last 3 years haha. Opens and closes no problems. If I had a cam I'd take a pic for ya.

Found it!!!! the spring was still inside the console down along the side. It's a v-shaped spring. Just had to repair one of the spring holes on the shift plate and works fine!

I used JB Weld and sealed it shut, then threw some switches on the lid for my fan, TC lockup, and Line lock
