As I understand it, the covers from hawks arent just "covers" that you pull over your existing seats, like autozone style, you actually have to take your seats apart and pull all the fabric off, leaving the foam, and replacing the fabric with the set from hawks.

Theres some great pictures on this site of seats that have had this done, and they look excellent.

Id love to do it to my seats!

New covers that replace the originals are definately the way to go. It's the closest thing to a stock replacement that you'll be able to get. No "slip on" seat cover can come close.

While were on the subject, how would you go about repairing missing foam?

Just get some fiber batting or something and throw it into the hole when you pull the old fabric off?

I haven't done it myself, but from what I've seen, standard procedure is to get some thinner foam (1" or so) and tape it over the worn spot with duct tape. Many times when seats are recovered, a thin sheet of foam is also used to make up for the compression that the stock foam has seen over the years. If this isn't done, the new seat covers can fit a little loose.

Try this

There is also a company out on the east coast, called 1A Auto, the also does repro seat covers. I did the complete set of 4 a yr or two ago, and aside from the rear seat backs being "a touch" too large, the finished product was nothing shy of amazing! I will be doing matching doorpanels soon as well.

Should be www.1aauto.com!

1A sells the exact same seat covers as Hawks and myself. There's only one company that I'm aware of that's making the good quality repop thirdgen covers and door panels.

Hey 82firebird, those seats look great. Are they leather or vinyl?
