Louvers?
So i have some louvers for my back window of my 89 camaro that the previous owner took off. So i havnt put them on yet. The only thing is they're pretty faded, they arent really black, which angers me. So i was thinking maybe i should just paint them or maybe fine some sweet a$$ polish. What do you guys think?

Do they have the aluminum slats in the middle and plastic "end caps"? I have some that are Cragers, when I bought them the aluminum was in bad shape, oxidized and looked like crap. I just carefully masked off the plastic ends and stripped the metal with aircraft paint stripper, sanded it down and scuffed up the plastic, primered it and then sprayed on that black bumper spray. They look brand new now!
Here is a pic of mine...not the best pic to show the louvers, but you get the idea.

They are definitly not for sale, sorry. I think louvers add to the character of camaros. That's probably why you want them and I dont blame you.
I might have to try that technique.

I got a set, primer black, as a partial trade from a guy. Then I realized I can't put them on since I have the rear wiper.
so they sit collecting dust in my basement. I'm still hoping to get another 3rd gen after this and put them on, since I really LOVE the look of them...
however, i'm so broke now, and I might be willing to part with them....
I don't know what they're worth, or, more importantly, worth to someone else, compared to what they're worth to me. I REALLY like them

I personally find louvers on 3rd gens ugly
I much perfer the louvers on a 2nd gen or 1st gen... I just don't think they fit our body lines! But yea, you can for sure recover the aluminum, it should be cake as described above.

The set I have are made for the rear wiper...they sit a little higher at the rear to accomodate the rear wiper. They are cool looking, but I've seen some that sit lower and I kinda like that look better and I don't have the rear wiper anyway.Let me know...maybe we can set something up.

ARE YOU SERIOUS???? fits with the rear wiper??? rock on!!!
yours look awesome!
were you the guy who wanted my knight rider wheels before? ironic, I got these louvres with the wheels the other guy gave me, then I couldn't even use them!
to be honest, I don't know if these are meant for the rear wiper, I assume not, 'cuz I didn't know there were such a set... I'll drag them upstairs, and lay them out on the floor and take a picture or two here, and see if they're what you're looking for. I *think* they got a little bent in shipping, i'll have to take a closer look....(unfortunately i'm leaving town for the weekend here pretty quick, and I won't have a chance to do this until monday or so, but I'm VERY interested!)

ok, here we go:
louvres pics
they look not bad actually, I think I have all the pieces, like I said I got them a few months ago, never installed them, and i've never even seen them on a car from closer then 20' away, so I *think* i've got all the stuff. Everything just looks like it was taken off a 20yr old car (duh), so it's dirty, and scratched. I think a good wash, scrub down with scotchbrite, and a can of flat black and they'll be good as new. I've got that one bag which is fasteners (little flange nuts I think), and the other bag has two little tab thingies. the very bottom piece, has a slight bend in it, (shocking the rest don't...), it's about in the middle, a crease about the size on a finger. I think sitting it on a block of wood and some hammer work and it'd be good as new. But i've never done that sorta thing before, so i'd rather not screw up something this rare, by botching it.
as you can see in pic 2, there is a "Kobel" emblem on the left side part. maybe that means something to you...?
anyway, if this is what you're looking for, i've seen all I need of yours, if you say they'll fit a rear wiper'd car i'll trust ya. Let me know and i'll box 'em up.

cool...in the photos there are holes in the slats and the end pieces. How do they get fastened? You said you have the fasteners correct? It almost looks like the should be riveted or something.

like I said I have no clue, never installed a set. my best guess:
the center slats have standoffs on the lower corners, and the side pieces have holes, i'm guessing the standoffs go into those holes, then the small flanged nuts hold that on. there's also a fold over on the top of each center slat, which has holes... actually, maybe the standoff on the lower one goes onto the hole in the next one...? (**** poor description I know...)
want more pictures before you decide?

Where can i get some louvers for a good price. Im want to start roundin up the parts for my car csue im lookin to be out there hard this summer. I already got a nasty paint job in mind for them but i just need the louvers to start with. If the other guys can get me a sound clip of those magnaflow mufflers i would be set on that but its another story. I live in nyc and nobody out here even knows wat a camaro is(bunch of gay ricers). A site that sells them or just a general direction to look would help alot.
