Door Handles Paintable?

I'm getting ready to spray the car and was wondering how well the door handles would hold paint...? Has anyone done it? Is it worth the hassle? Thanks...

Pick up some 4thgen handles and spray them. They don't have that "indent" in them like 3rdgen ones. I didn't even paint these:

Random thought...

Old parts car had chipping door handles but they were chrome plated under the paint

Scratched all the paint off and had chrome handles

Had no use for em, just something cool

Is this a direct, bolt on? This looks nice. I'd like to clean up the side of mine, but dont want to get into welding in vette or grand prix handles, so this swap would be great.

You can paint the ones that you have, you just need to prep them before you squirt them with the rest of the car.

I like the look of the more modern version better... I just would like to know what I am in for before I buy any.

They are a direct bolt in. It's just the outer handle.

The chrome found on the previously mentioned handles were improperly prepped handles by a previous owner that painted over the chrome ones he found online or had in a drawer. That's why the paint is peeling.

The paint's not going to get a good bite on chrome. You have to use the ones that aren't chrome, so that the paint adheres to it.

Re: Door Handles Paintable?

That's what I was trying to imply. A previous owner used chrome ones and just painted them. They should not be chrome before painting. Definitely not the best choice for a painted surface.
