right to left hatch alignment

My hatch kinda its far to the right. In fact, it kinda scrapes the right quarter panel somewhat (I can see that the paint has worn away and some rust is forming!)

So how do I adjust the left to right on the hatch? I read the tech article before, but that just seems to del with the main decklid and not the right to left alignment. Any suggestions?

can you do that? I heard that the thing doesn't have any adjutments on the top or something lie that. The holes are justround and the bolts fit in snugly I think?

how well did you get it fixed? is it perfect? I read that someone else tried the same thing but they could only slightly correct the crookedness

did you completely fix it?

Well before I fixed it I could get my fingers between the hatch and quarter on the driver side and the hatch had scraped the paint off the other side. now I have an equal gap on both side.

........Chances are the struts are out of whack. One has more resistance then the other. That's the problem I had. Had to replace both of them.....Zapr.

There's a tech article on this site that explains hatch alignment. You all might want to check it out. It kinda worked for me.

i wouldnt mess around with the decklid. I tried to follow the article on here that required u to rip the deck lid off the glass and i broke it.. NOT COOL

u can ajust the hatch 2 ways:

1. from the inside of the car remove the plastic cover over the 4 bolts(2 on each side) and loosen them and then u can try to wiggle the hatch over to get even gaps

2. Take the struts off the hatch and remove the hatch from the car all together. GET 2 PEOPLE AT LEAST THE GLASS IS DAMN HEAVY!! then u can adjust the hingest on the glass itself rather than adjusting it as mentioned in method 1.

hope that helps. but be damn careful, i broke my glass and its not fun vacuuming out safty glass from your trunk for 5 hrs the next day. plus, the hatches are around $2,000CAN new.. (i found a used one for $50)
