Problems opening hood. (Not a latch problem)

Hey everyone,
I just put the hood back on my 91. For some reason, when I pull the hood up to open it, the back of the hood doesnt raise up. I have to wiggle the hood to get the back up before I can continue raising the hood. If I just keep raising it up... I think I will probably bend the hood at the hinge area. What Can I do? I already have the bump stops adjusted perfectly to line the hood up with the fenders. Any thoughts?

Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

that's a common problem due to how heavy and long our hoods are. I'm guessing that your hood struts are shot or atleast not very good. New struts will make the hood rise by itself for the most part and you'll avoid the problem you're describing.

You may still need to adjust the Rr bump stops a little more. There is also one in the center of the hood.

Hood shocks fixed it. The shocks that were on there were pretty new... But were the cheapies that you can find on E-Bay. I went to AutoZone and picked up a set. Presto!!! I guess you get what you pay for.
