Would this look funny?

Ok, I have an 89 Trans Am WS6 with a fiberglass wrap around spoiler, the car was repainted before I got it.. anyways, the car is currently a bright red. The spoiler is all hoobley and I can see bulges very easily where the filler was not sanded down properly, and the paint is starting to lift on it. Also, I can easily remove my fender vents and vents off my GTA style hood.. the Question is...

If I were to take my wrap around spoiler, and all my vents, smooth out the spoiler so it looks less like ****, and squirt the vents and Spoiler with a nice gloss black, would it look good?

Another question would be is there a safe solvent to use on things like the hood vents? It would be hard to get into all the crevices with sand paper, but I could try, along those lines.. what grit would I use to strip/shape the spoiler? I've never done body work, but I have the patience and I'm sure I can do better than what's already there.

My opinion is that it will look cheesy with black vents and a black spoiler. I thought the early TAs looked cheesy with the unpainted spoiler, and it'll be even worse on a GTA.

If it was me, I'd live with it the way it is until I could afford a fiberglass repop spoiler, then have that one painted to match the car.

Vents, no. Spoiler, maybe. Depends. Do you have t-tops?

I really like the look of my black spoiler on my white ta with tinted t-tops. It breaks up the white and I wouldnt paint it white if I could.

Let's see a pic of yours.

Yep, the car has T-tops. I have a couple pics, unfortunately, my cousin took them awhile back and was trying to be "artistic" and my spoiler I think is a repop, and it's fiberglass... It was just done like ****!

Hopefully those help a bit because the hatch is open, so you can see the kind of spoiler I got, those are from last summer.

Yeah, I think a black spoiler would look good on that. Now the question is flat black or gloss. Hmm...

I've seen a yellow 85-87 trans am with black painted hood vents in person. Didn't look too bad but it didn't look better than a stock trans am.

I'm not sure if a black spoiler on a non-black car would flow with gold rims.

Oh! Good point about the rims! I've actually always wanted to change them black and I have some stripper and black wheel paint, I may paint them black when I do the spoiler, that way everything will match nicely. Thanks a lot for the input guys!

if your looking to spice the colors up a bit try pulling the hood vents off (all 4) then take the actual grill part out the metal screen part and paint that silver. i did that on all 4 and it really shows so nicely and just adds to the effect instead of being the same color as the car or black.
