Replace the tach?

Does it budge or move slightly at all, ever? Could take the tach needle off and set it at 0 RPM and see if it helps.

ya it moves up and down with the RPMs but its starts up at like 4500 or so instead of zero? so you're saying i can take the needle off and just put it back down at zero?

wouldn't hurt to try. Just be careful to not break the needle. I think some people use a fork to take it off but i use force because i have spare needles.

Re: tachometer troubles

My tach is stuck at the high end, when you start the car it goes to zero for a second then goes back to being off the scale at the high end where it sits stuck . Anyone experienced this kind of problem ? Any ideas on repair ? I am starting to restore my 91 1LE and this is one of the repairs on the list
