Cracked Dash Fix?
Hey guys, brother damaged a 99% perfect dashpad that I took off of a donor car. He thought it would be a good idea to store a chair in the tiny closet that I keep my car parts in and the chair fell sending the leg right through the pad. I'm really pissed off at him right now and when he gets home, I am sending my fist into his chin

Anything I can do about this? He basically sent the value of a 100$ dash down to a 5$ dashpad. I have heard about vinyl repair kits, but how do they work? Anyone ever used them? What were your results? How much? etc..
Thank you guys

See guys, heres the thing...I dont WANT to buy a new one. I am saving up for heads, cam and prom, and I would really have liked to have a flawless pad sitting around without buying one. My plan was to actually SELL this so I could get money to put towards said engine parts.
I'll pick up a vinyl kit today and find out for myself.

Around Worcester its a 3rd gen wasteland. Just rows of f-bodies. Not so much in Boston though (where I currently live).

id couldnt see a peice of sheet metal with some foam and plastic covering being worth 200 or more i paid 60 for a a mint one and i know it wasnt used long freind had paid 100 for it brand new from chevy
the most ive ever seen one sell for was 80 but it was in the Gm bag and box at a swap meet
apprently ohio is cheap for parts but expensive for buying the full cars lol
try some leather/vinyl or plastic repair it will never be perfect but it wont have a big hole

Got the repair kit, 15$. I've got a sick eye for detail, thanks to where I work, so it shouldnt be too hard. I've been color matching for 5 years now. The acrylic filler is setting now, and I'll get to painting it at about 10:00 tonight after it sets completely. I'll post up pics of the job after it is done.

Ive seen a guy repair a dash that got damaged. He used an expoxy of some kind, a heat gun , and a textured pad. Look sweet after he was done. The pad had a texture that was similar to the dash and it blended in great.

Well, I did it, but it is very apparent that it was previously damaged. I did all the instructions, but the color of the compound looks too light still, and not as shiny. I mean, theres no way I could make it darker, I just used the pure black paint that came in the kit, so it seems like I'm pretty much screwed. I think I'm just gonna sand down that area and spray down the entire top with vinyl paint and see if that works out better =/.
