Console Carpet
Console Carpet
I was wondering if someone could tell me where to get the carpet that's on the side of the console? And what is that part called? I don't think the floor pan carpet set includes these pieces. I am changing my carpet to black and these pieces are gray and I want to change them to black as well. I have included a picture of the pieces I'm talking about. THANKS
I'm doing the same thing, changing my interior from gray to black. I know on Classic Industries that their replacement lower center console is black all around, there's no carpet in that area. Unless there is someway to remove the carpet from that area, may need to either dye it or get another lower console.

The cheapest solution is to just buy bulk carpet along with your molded carpet and cut it to fit.
Removing the carpet from the console is easy. It's just glued on, so take your time and peel it back slowly, using a razor blade to help separate the glue.

another cheap solution is just to buy a used black carpeted center console to start with.
But if your going to carpet it urself the stuff does come off very easy like said ^ peels right off.

The console is VERY easy to recarpet. I bought a roll of black automotive carpet from Pepboys along with a spraycan of 3M adhesive. Its not an exact match, but when I buy new black carpet this winter I'm gonna ask for some extra so I can redo the kick panels and console (again) in the same carpet that the floor has.

Thanks
I painted some of my interior parts with the SEM, and at first they looked too dull, but then I wetsanded and hand polished the flat smooth spots, and now they are indistinguishable from the OEM plastic.
Yeah, I was wondering about whether using gloss black would make it look decent. I saw some pictures of some panels painted gloss black on another post and they looked great, but I guess they would look different in person. What preperation should I do to them before I paint. I almost won some factory black panels on ebay, but someone outbid me at the last minute,
. But I figured I could just use paint to make them aooear factory. Thanks

Well Jim i can kinda agree with you because i thought the same at first. I didnt really have a semi gloss option with the stuff i used but here is my result. I used Krylon Fusion and well i think it turned out pretty well. It actually shines like if i had armoral on them all the time. Anything beats red interior in my opinion.

I tried a can of that Krylon Fusion. I hated it. It didn't flow smoothly, and it was way too glossy. It looked cheap and fake.
Here's a pic of my console. The piece that the monitor is in was painted with SEM and polished. The piece underneath is the stock console.

I went and bought what I needed stock black and I am glad I did. Do you have shoulder belts, I have the trunk pieces in black for shoulder belts for sale if I ever get mine for lap belts that I bought 3 weeks ago

Ya but see i didnt want to fork out the crazy amount people were charging for black plastics, now that i have found good junkyards though i would rather have gone that route. Also I dont have back seats.
