Good News for limp headlight motors

I have great news for Firebird / Trans Am owners with worn out headlight motors. Many of you know that the headlight motors always go bad in one spot--the three little semi-plastic cylinders between the headlight motor shaft and the driven gear from the worm-drive. Here is the great news, you can buy the replacement bushings at most general auto parts stores.. The Ford Window Regulator Gear Plugs from Motormite are the exact size that our headlight motors take. The part number is 74410, and they come with the three that you'll need. Advance Auto Parts even stocks this part number, there are usually two sets on the shelf... They are a little pricey at ~$7, but they'll fix your broken headlight motor up in no time...

Warning: be prepared for one or more of the cover screws on the headlight motor to snap off... They're not bad to drill out though...

Oh, and don't forget that if you have the time, you should order this Headlight Repair Kit from TDS instead, as they are a board sponsor, and it is reasonably priced...
