was looking for new seats and found this. EBay ripoff notice...

well I was hunting through EBay, thinking about new seats and found this auction... (Link removed. Issue with seller fixed.)

well it has no reserve noted and states FREE for shipping. so I bid 12 bucks. My bid won, final price was .99 cents!

well I get this message from the seller...."ebay is being dumb, they changed how thier modify listing works, so when I went to add a reserve price it diddnt work and I tried to end the auction and that diddnt work either, $125 is the reserve, free pickup or 100 shipped. They would ship fedex."

WTF!! I just won a no reserve auction that states free ship, and now this cat wants 125 for the seats and 100 to ship? I mean I knew it was to good to be true, but come on. it aint hard to end an auction.

So I sent him a reply stating that I was not going to pay his reserve and that if he was going to stick to that, he could just leave me generic positive feedback, and I would do the same, and he could keep the seats. If he tries again to get 225 out of me for this auction I will simply report it to EBay and they will cancel this whole shebang and possibly suspend his acount. no biggie to me.

Just thought I would let others know about this guy.

I see alot of items listed at 99 cent starting and no reserve and you know right away someone just goofed up listing it

if he wanted to give them away for free he wouldve just put them in the front yard where you put the trash like everyone else ;p

I understand that. I also understand that I gave him a simple way out of this where everything turns out good for us both. we will see if it works out.

Simply put, I wont win an auctin for a cheap price and then have the guy tell me the actuall price is 225. THAT is my point.

I gave him an out. hope he takes it.

No, some people just want it gone and it'll sell for what it's worth. I do .99 all the time becuase its the lowest insertion fee, and no reserve because I just want the item sold and if the items consistantly selling for $XXX.XX then odds are my item will also sell for that amount.
----------
Also, stupid question: The listing says "Buyer pays shipping" and states free local pickup. Did he edit it after you bid (becuase that's not possible).

i think what you did was an honorable thing to give him an out, and neither of you will have a problem. hopefully this guy takes it. i hate ebay. too much bad crap can happen. but at the same time, it can be a great bone yard.

It states his intentions right in the description, which was edited the 15th... two days before you bid on the 17th:

RESERVE $125

i will not sell these for less than $125 if the auction is not up to $100 with 12 hours remaining i will end the auction early and sell these locally or at a later date.

tan seats from a 1983 z-28 camaro these seats have no rips (60k on the car), no fading (car allways stored), and they have power driver seat in perfect working condition.

buyer to pay for shipping

Check out my other auctions for more great camaro parts.

Any questions just ask. 315 246 7558
Given all that info is true, I say the seller is very much in the right not to sell them to you... even though he may have goofed with the starting bid and no reserve *shrug*

I would not have bid on them unless I was prepared to pay $125 for them. Winning the auction the way you did sorta leaves yourself open for negative feedback as a nonpaying bidder. I hope however it works out for you, that you don't end up taking a feedback hit. Good luck with your purchase. If the seller wanted to set a reserve, he should have done it at the auction listing. Alot of people don't do that because it costs about an extra buck or so to list it that way.

Seats look very nice by the way, same color as my interior.

it actually worked out.

sad thing is I looked at the price and the shipping slot at the header of the auction not the description for his reserve.

I think I may just drive up and get it / make the same suggestion about generic pos. feedback etc.

if it sold for .99 cents he has to give it to you for .99 cents. a friend of mine sold some porsche parts and forgot the reserve as it was his first time selling anything on ebay. And it's a binding contract if an item is listed and if the item is won.

Gotta be careful of Ebay, I wish they'd monitor it abit more. I tried to purchase a set of Gold Firebird stickers, the bid started at like 10 bucks and I started a bidding war with a guy with 2 next to his name, all the way up towards $25. So a little more research and I found them for $12, only to get an e-mail from the 1st guy saying the other guy backed out and he could offer me the stickers. Basicly he was upping his price himself. I guess it does work on some people.
Just becarefull
