T-boned, write off?
I have some sad pictures to show you all....what Im wondering who thinks it will be a write off and who thinks its salvageable? The diff is cracked and the axle is broken...thats all I can see so far

A lot of guys on here will probably tell you to junk it. Three questions... Is the roof buckled? Is there an obvious buckle to the driver's quarter panel? Does the front of the door that is damaged line up top the fender? If the answer to the first two are no, it's repairable. The third is minor, but bears asking. That will tell if the uniside is damaged past the point of impact.
Also look at the mounting point for the axle. Is the uni-body damaged in any way? That's probably gonna be the deciding factor.
From the photos, it looks as if it needs a quarter, Axle, outer wheelhouse, door, and some work on the door opening frame. Labor intensive and expensive?... sure, but is it worth it? I'm sure it is. Your insurance company, however, will tell you otherwise.

Im pretty sure the roof is buckled somewhere, I forgot to take pics of it today but the hatch has about a 9/16" to 5/8" gap between it and the driver quarter...and judging by how badly the banjo was busted on the diff I'm sure theres lots of stuff bent under there as well
I agree though the Insurance company will probably write it off, the only thing I got going for me is it was appraised in 98 for $8000 and Ive only put 36000km on it since including $3000 in upgrades since 2002, so it'll be interesting to see how much I get....still wont be near as much as I want..

I say that you make sure they pay for at least a decent car if you have to get a new one. Not your fault after all.

They insure the car for a value. If it takes more than that value to repair the car, they pay you the value. Now, something I would suggest that everyone do to help in this situation...Check with your agent...I have "set" the value that I think my car is worth. I am paying based on that value. (Within reason...If you are going to value it at like $20,000.00 or something like that, they will require some documentation to back that up...which may include a licensed appraiser to value tha car.)

it will be more than likely to be totalled....but it is fixable...just depends if you would want to put the money into it. If you were able to put it on a good frame rack....alot of the damage would pull out. You would also have to replace a few parts (door, quarter, ect.)

Yeah Kevin our insurance is pretty well the same, they give you blue book value for your car unless you've gone through all those steps to insure it for a higher value
I'm pretty sure mines gonna cost more than $1500 to fix, snapped banjo, damaged posi, bent rim, bent panhard, quarter, door, wheel house, not to mention all the cracked paneling inside.... it all adds up pretty quick, I am a pretty handy mechanic just not a body man by any means.
Still undecided what I want to do....just finished putting a about 100 hrs into the motor and accessories and such....not sure how much I have left in my tank to fix this....

Take him for all hes worth. Get what you can for the car, then buy it back from the insurance Co. . Take the motor and such from it and transplant it into a fixer-uper you find for cheap that needs work/has no motor/tranny. That sounds like your best bet to me. Say you get 1,500 for your car. Then buy it back for say $1000(hopefully). Then you can spend $500 on buying a car that needs work as stated above. Just transplant any and all that was worth keeping from your old car to the new one and then use/sell parts from it the wrecked one.

2 weeks and 2 days now and finally I get a return call from buddies insurance company.....turns out he wasnt a listed driver on the policy! So in otherwords if the say he didnt have permission they consider the vehicle stolen and I have to sue him in court...hoping for the best in this situation!
I would love to find a cheap roller and start from scratch and swap everything over...just don't know if I have enough in me to take on a task like that...and at this point Im ready for a new vehicle without as much maintenance...but then again a mans gotta have his toy!
Yeah Tobias original motor and everything anyway...changed to a 3:42 posi...and punched out that 305 a little more with porting..headers..intake..carb..cam...etc.etc.
Its sad...thats original paint! 21 yrs old....not more than a dime size piece of rust around the windshield

I bought back a brand new wrecked RsX for that price. worth way more than that camaro. Salvage yards by wrecked cars for that price. Besides it saves them money.
as for the court case, that is BS your insurance compancy should compensate you and they should sue him in court not you. It is called uninsured motorist. tell your insurance company you want your money or you will sue them too.

Well luckly I live in Alberta and our government has a slush fund that insurance companies pool into for this sort of thing, so the govenment will give me an unsatisfied judgement settlement and then they will go after the kid...hes almost fu$#ed for life after that..or at least it'll take him a long time to recover...but still its gonna take them forever to cut me cheque for it

i wouldnt worry about the hatch gap. its more likely that when he hit you it just knocked the hatch loose and it shifted over to the side he hit you. i doubt its because the whole car is crushed. if it was, then you would have a close gap on both sides.

its only fixable if you have the resources and time and $ required to do it
everyone is different, and in their own kind of life, you know
you have to worry about the damage it did to the body tub up under the rear, attachment points of the rear suspension to the car tub, what parts got wacked and bent and misaligned, such as LCa mounting brackets and so on, all will have to be checked and realigned and so forth
could be alot of work depending on the person, to some ppl it would be nothing and is the kind of work they do all the time, to others its a huge deal and would be impossible to do or next to it
a person would have ot sit and think about this stuff before deciding to tackle such a thing,
personally i am unsure, it would all depend on the amount of damage done ot the body tub and rear suspension mounting points and so on,
it really seems that ppl's cars' front bumpers are really attracted to the nicer rides like this
i see rusted junk *** beatrs running around non stop daily just fine never any trouble, but when you see an accident it seems 9 out of 10 times its a really neat or unique or valuable ride that gets hit
around here anyways, seen it a million times,
its crazy,
sorry it happened id be so damned pissed off, hope something good comes out of this,
if you can get it for a couple hundred backs off the insurance co then i would seriously do it, either way
its still worth more than that, and plus with all the work you have in it, and the time and money and so on
for real.
good luck

Man I am really sorry for this situation landing in your hands. That was a beautiful Iroc you had. But you gotta tell yourself no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. So from here you need to take what you have. So I suggest by your car back from the insurance company and tubb the rear, throw a shortend 9' ford in under there, fix the quater, and drop a 383 with a turbo 350 tranny in the engine bay and then you will have the best iroc on the streets. You could even just store it and slowly gain back more money and rebuild it when the time is right for you. Either way I feel for you and I hope you work something out.
wow the thursday after the 18th i belive some lawn mowing company pulled in front of me (the guy didnt have a liscense imagin that)and it completely just smashed the front end of my car luckly the radiotor wasnt punctured or anything but im afraid the insurance will total my car i hope they dont, but thank goodness they were driving a companmy truck
