you can start car with no key

I just got this 1988 trans am every time i fix some thing i find something else wrong with it.I found out today once you turn the key so its not in the locked position you can pull the key out and start it with no key , better get that fixed would be to easy to steel it.

Sounds to me like you need a new ignition lock cylinder and keys.

Engine: L98 350, mini ramed and camed
Transmission: T56 6 speed manual
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt 3:73 limited slip
Mine dose the same thing. I do find it handy though. The trick on mine is to make sure it's in the lock position before you pull the key out. Other wize it will not lock and you can start it without a key. Adam :-)
