What are these pieces called?!?

They are the metal retainers that go along the window side of the two pillars on my T Top car. There are two per side. They screw to the body, and the weatherstripping is glued inside of them. I'm looking at buying a new set but I do not know what they are called. Can anybody help me out?

I don't know what the technical name for them is. What is wrong with yours? They aren't the kind of part that wears very much.

If you need the GM part number, I can probably get them for you, just let me know.

Portions are somewhat bent up and tweaked. I suppose I could reuse them, I just wanted to compare the price of new ones to the time and effort involved in cleaning and reusing my old.

All those things do is hold the rubber in place...unless they are really tweaked, I'd reuse them.

But I'll check my parts book to see if I can find the part numbers for you. With that, you can check your dealer or gmpartsdirect.com for prices and availability.

Well I guess they arent too bad. I'm having a hell of a time getting the old weatherstripping off them. Its hardened and is just a real pain. Any magikal substance that dissolves the adhesive they used at the factory?

Try acetone, turpentine, MEK. If those don't work (or you can't find them), try Naptha (petroleum ether), gasoline, denatured alcohol, Xylene (Xylol), or Toluene (Toluol)

Any word on the GM part number? That would be great if you could get that for me, I would really appreciate it.

There is some soft foam time stuff on the backs of these, the part that contacts the body. Will I be OK stripping this stuff off and then gluing the retainer, metal-on-metal to the body? Or should I apply the glue to the foamy stuff?
