Re-badging after paint
i recently acquired my red 88 305 tpi formula a few weeks ago by a fellow member on this forum. the clear coats peeling, paints faded in some places, and chipped here and there. typical for its year...and never being repainted. it has the "FORMULA" decals on the doors, and the "screaming chicken" decal on the sail panels...typical.
i'm in collision repair at my tech school, and looking to repaint her in the spring...where can i get decals to match my current ones to apply when im done repainting...im not sure if yearone carries formula decals.
so whos purchased decals and applied them? what brands do you recomend?
i've looked on phenioxgraphix.com and they seem fairly legit.
any ideas?

thanks! i found the same kit on there for the same price thought as i did on phenioxgraphix, but the site seems more legit and is in affiliation with TGO, so i might as well.
now the debate is, keep her red...or go black...i dont know. i want to keep it a stock colour, so if i get in an accident, i can easily reorder it, rather then trying to match custom paint...so my idea of black with red pearl (which i think would look cool in the sunlight) wouldnt work out well...
hmmm...what do you guys think?

I'd go with red. Sure, black looks awesome when it's polished, but it's really hard to keep clean. Red looks damn good though too, as long as it's polished nicely. And maybe it's just me, but red seems to be more "eye-catching" than black.

my interior is red and black...currently riced out from the owner before the previous owner...i need to strip some of the "riceness" out of her.
so im trying to stay in the red/black spectrum.
but that blue is pretty cool.

Some of the Grand Sports had red leather seats. Completely freakin awesome if you ask me. But then again, this is a Vette, and you have a firebird. Vettes always seem to be a tad bit cooler than our good ole fbodies. That's just me though, maybe I'm nuts.

If it was me I would paint it back to original... in my opinion Red, Black and yellow are all equals. not a fan of blues unless there newly painted.
The problem with painting a red car black is you will need to paint everything, the door jambs under the hood etc. Another problem I see with black is its so darned hard to keep clean, you wash and wash and wash its a never ending battle. I owned a black 95 Formula convertible.
my personal favorite is Yellow, of course I am rather secure and driving a yellow car and it does not bother me, my wife likes it too but she prefers silver...

wait, why would it be nessesary to paint door jams, under the hood and such if painting black over red?? i mean, technically, well, ideally, one should paint all those areas no matter the colour unless repainting the stock colour, but why specifically painting those areas black over red???
im confused...

I think he meant that if you would be changing the colour, that you would have to paint the door jams and under the hood. Same with changing any colour, not just black over red.

If you change the color and do not paint those areas then every time you open your door or open your hood all you notice is the car was re-painted. its obvious because the exterior does not match... the only thing worse in my opinion is to paint each panel a different color because you did not have enough of one color paint.
Keep it original it will save you alot of grief.

well its obvious the car was painted a differant colour...whatever. it depends on who it is i guess.
i think i may just keep it stock red...may change it up a bit though...maybe some red with metal flake or pearl. we were discussing in class clear coat with white pearl in it, and it looks like ghost flames. its hott.

I'm in the same dilema, my '91 was originally red, then painted yellow, and then re-painted red with a paintjob worse than MAACO!
My favorite car color is black, but I am thinking I might stick with red when I finally get the money for a decent re-paint.
