And that's a good synopsis of where it's at now. I have a couple of pictures where the car is being buffed after a good wet sand, but there's not much to write home about in them. I'm waiting to see how the pice turn out tomorrow when the car comes back.

nice. I used a 2006 BMW dark metallic blue and a 2006 BMW silver grey of some kind. I'd recognize the swatches in the book, but i don't remember the paint codes. I can get them if anyone's interested. the birds and words are painted on, not stickers. I figure it was all worth every penny.

sadly, no. he couldn't make it big enough to wer it would look right. so i decided with the little bird on the nose like the factory did it. I have the pics now, so I'll post them later.

the car picked up a lot of dust on the way home. it's all over the wing. I'll worry about it later. though, to be honest, the wing is the only place you see it. the rest of the car reflects everything in the paint

all told, $2600. all the emblems and lettering are painted on under the clear coats. and I didn't do anything as far as prep or anything. it went in like it was in the first picture, and came out like it is in the last one.

everything. wetsand, polish, sealer, everything. it's literally smoother than glass. it was a local guy here in Jacksonville. my neighbor used him to paint a cutlass 442. i like the paint on the cutlass so i went to the same guy.

Looks really nice, and I love the wheels! Only thing that I would do is change the taillights to newer smooth ones, 91-92, I think. (camaro guy )

Nice. Can't wait to see it with the new rims! They'll look much better than the body-color rims ... there needs to be some contrast there ... the blue rims get "lost" in the tires.

i agree, which is why i want bigger wheels. I'll either do them painted the same gray lip/body color (can you tell the lip is gray?) or i'll get polished. don't know yet.

Looks great! This was my first time browsing the thread so i just went through all the pictures. Wow that is a great color and i was gonna say it looks a little familiar(the shade) as i do some work for a local BMW dealership around and always take a browse at the cars.
Id paint the grille inserts black and underneath the headlights black to break it up some, but i mean really, what a change it looks great!

Wow it looks great. The paint is killer good, BUT it just looks like something is missing. Up to you, but i think painting the wheel-wells with a new coat of black (either rubberized, or tremclad) and some tint on those windows will give it that "finished look". I wouldnt change a thing about the paint, but the windows looks like they are lacking. AWESOME turn out though.

That looks fantastic. I really like that color of blue, but I thought it would look strange on this type of car.
Your black/gold originally is what my car looks like now, very inspiring. I was thinking about painting the letters and emblems on as well, I guess he just used a stencil and sprayed that gold over the blue, then cleared over both? Very nice.
I like to see a similar early 3rd gen bird in the repaint stages I'm still thinking of going black when I do mine though.

black is a good color. I wasn't fan of black and gold, i thought it was too dated for me. but i liked the look of the emblems and wanted to keep that. it's amazing how smooth it is...... it's like glass, even over where the emblems are. you can't even tell there's a difference.
