RS is the base unit.

SS doesn't exist in a 3rd gen. Does in a 4th.

IROC was made from 85 to 89.

Z28 cam most years although some years the IROZ is the Z28.

IROZ has the best suspension setup and bigger parts. Look for a 350.

If you want detailed info. Buy the "Camaro Whit Book". It has all the facts, options and figures for each year car.

Ask question......that's what thirdgen is all about...........

1991 and 92 z28 350 models have the best options available with the exception of the t-top option. if you want to counteract that with any other model then the same year 1-le counterpart.

92's slightly better for the little last minute changes gm made. you get the most for your money with these years and the cars are noticeably nicer. irocs in a close second for the name and history behind it.

Pretty hard to find them for sale usually. At least for a reasonable price anyway.

And yea it's true the '90 model year was a half year, but it's still recognized as the last year of the IROC-Z, which is why mine has IROC-Z emblems and door decals.

Im sure you could find this info if you looked hard enough, but for something so general, it's hard to figure out how to do a search, so I'll lay out everything that I know for future searchers:

The RS was the old base model, but they gave it IROC Z/28 ground effects, so it looked a lot better. IT basically took the place of the old base models. The Z28 is the top of hte line except for 1985-1990. The IROC Z and the Z28 were the same car from 1987-1990. After 1990, there was no more IROC it went back to being called the Z28.
