aftermarket RAM AIR hoods

i bought a ram air ls1 style hood for my 86 firebird last week and it showed up at the body shop today with chips around the hood, the body guy told me it was also poor quality, so he sent the hood back. I bought the hood from hawks 3rd gen.com im just wondering if anyone else has bought one of these hoods from this company or any other company, im going to ask for my money back and possibly buy from another company.

I've had 3 Ram Air hoods in the past few years, 2 from ASCD (Ram Air 1 & 2) and 1 from RamAirHoods.com (Ram Air 2). All were very good, build and finish.
I currently have the ASCD Ram Air 1 hood on my bird.

The first Ram Air hood I had was the RA2 and it looked out of place on a car with no ground effects, so I swapped it for the RA1.
The other RA2 hood I got in trade for a Power bulge hood with a friend of mine.
I traded that RA2 hood for some GTA wheels since I didn't need it.

well, i sent it back and im considering another hood, I like the way that ram air I hood looks on your car, I have a firebird, so im concerned about how it will look with no GFX also. what do you think of the Super Duty hood on hawks? i wish someone had some more pics of how it would look.

WELL, I talked to hawks the girl there told me that there usually are chips in the jellcoat but my body guy said there are chips chunks of fiberglass missing, she said they can ship me a new one no problem, but im going to see if i can get the ram air I style, after I saw Zephers and how well it matched up to a firebird i liked that alot better.

Yeah i got mine from Hawks, good shape.. but you might want to consider a lift off hood as an option, just cause your latch doesnt always want to work with new hoods.

firechicken i agree, i think you should get the RA1 hood.. i think the firebirds with no ground effects look better with the RA1 and the trans ams with ground effects look better with the RA2 hood
