Question on GFX

Hi,
Found some 91/92 side skirts for sale locally, and he says he only has half the mounting hardware.

Since my car doesn't have GFX to start with, I'm not really sure what the mounting hardware is.

What all is needed to mount the GFX to the car? Is the mounting hardware just bolts? Or is it part of the GFX that is missing, and will be a big pain to try mount without them?

Re: Question on GFX

the hardware is basically a piece of metal with a few threaded studs in it. on the side skirts there is 2 pieces on each side. one attaches to the fender with 1 bolt and the other side bolts up to the quarter panel with 2 bolts.
good luck

Re: Question on GFX

So the hardware piece must bolt to the car, and then skirt has holes that match were the studs are? then it bolts on to it?

So sounds like you really need to have it, to mount the GFX.

Just curious what would anyone pay for the 2 skirts and 1 hardware piece?

Re: Question on GFX

the mounting brackets aren't all that complicated. you could just use a piece of sheetmetal, drill the holes and use bolts to attach them. im sure you can low ball him too for not having the pieces.... i'd offer $30 for the skirts

Ya I'll see what he says.

He asking $80 for them so I doubt he'll drop much, but I'll see what he says.

Re: Question on GFX

have another question about the GFX

Are the GFX that mount to the rear fender, before the bumper the same on a 90 compared to a 91/92?

Found someone who is parting out a 90, but want to make sure those pieces are the same .

Re: Question on GFX

No they are different. They are the same as the 85-88 ones. The 91-92 have more of a contour to them and also come down lower. Put a 91-92 bumper cover against the quarter pieces from an 85-90 and you will see they are different.

I have a set of 91-92 style quarter panel pieces and sideskirts w/door pieces that I may get rid of; PM me if you want them.

Re: Question on GFX

I picked up those side skirts today, and looking at how they go on.

Do you have to drill 2 holes in the side of the car for those 2 studs to go through? That kinda stinks, not quite sure where I have to drill.

I still need to make some sort of bracket for the side that doesn't have that piece.

Re: Question on GFX

you need to drill the 2 holes in the QP and one in the fender on each side to attach the GFX
