Billet or locking gas cap door--looking for pictures

Hey guys,

Has anyone here installed one of those billet or locking gas cap doors? I saw one camaro that had one and it looked pretty sweet. I was wondering if anyone here has done anything like this and had any pictures of it? I'm talking an aftermarket billet/chrome door here. Not the actual cap itself.

The reason I ask is that in the last month or so, some punk kids have found it fun to sugar gas tanks around town. The police are even out looking for them and have posted bulletins around town. I would really be unhappy if some one did that to me.

If you want protection get a cheap locking gas cap (the $10 from autozone). Modding the fuel door looks ridiculous and out of place on these cars.

A locking gas door was a factory option on 82-86 Firebird's and Camaro's.

My 83 Trans Am had one, and I put one on my Formula.

Re: Billet or locking gas cap door--looking for pictures

My fuel door doesn't lock but its made of billet aluminum. I actually got my billet door done(or done for now) last weekend. I never thought I would do this but when I saw a couple black 4th gens at ls1tech.com have them this way, I had to. This was the billet polished aluminum gas cap from advance auto meant for a ford truck. I grinded and bent it to fit then puff painted it and left the stainless steel bolts alone. I'll have it repainted when the car gets repainted. And I know my car needs a wash(and paint)...

I did a search before I posted. All I can come up with is usless posts and threads that aren't even related to what I'm looking for. But I guess I'll try again.

OH, and Firebat, that black billet looks sweet.

Here is an old pic of the factory locking gas door, but missing the lock.
I can't get a current one as my car is still in storage away from me at the moment.
