Screaming chickens!!!
HI,
was wondering if any of you 3rd gen trans-am owners out there have a hood bird/screaming chicken on your car's hood.
If you have, could you please post some photos, as i've been thinking about getting one for the car, but not sure if it would look right.

Some nice birds there.
Has anyone here put a 2nd gen hood bird on a 3rd gen with the GTA hood, i know the vents get in the way, just wondering if anyone has tried cutting the thing to fit down inside the vents.
Its the large 2nd gen bird i really like the look of, but looks like i cant have one coz i got a GTA

I have to admit, those pictures look even worse than I thought they would. I love those birds on the correct period cars, but the thought of one on a 3rd gen would have never occured to me. Now that I've seen pictures, I'm pretty sure I can put this topic to bed in my own mind :-)

my car will be getting a new glossy black paint job, clean black crosslaces, tint, with clean bodylines. then a nice big metallic silver 3rd gen bird on the hood. it should look great.

Re: Screaming chickens!!!
All comes down to personal taste really, i must admit they look better on the 2nd gen cars and to me personally the 3rd gen bird was a little small looking but as you said, on a nice car they can look quite nice, i'll consider one of those... but it's the birds from around 76,77 that i fancy trying to fit on to my car, might give it a go, if it dont work or i dont like the look of it then i can always take it back off, worth a go i think, otherwise i'll always be wondering what it would be like.

most people dont realize birds came on factory t/a's in i think 85-87 or just one or two of those years. if u check out a year one cataloge they show some nice pics of 87 original hood birds.

Re: Screaming chickens!!!
Few formula birds came with them on the power bulge but they were tiny and barely covered the width of the bulge
Decals thruout 82-92 moved around slightly
The small bird on the front was sometimes mounted on the tip of the hood
These are moot points to the fact that the last REAL screamin' chicken hood bird was worn by a 2nd gen

I think the hood birds look a little out of place on our 3rd gens...they don't seem to flow well. That being said, I've been toying with the idea of maybe having it look like the bird got hit while driving...and pasted at an odd angle on the car...something like this:

Re: Screaming chickens!!!
I was actually trying to add to the "screaming chicken" thread idea with my thoughts on having a bird on the car. Having or not having stripes on the car is irrelevant. Let's pretend it's a solid black hood.
