Duplicolor makes it, they say pretty much any DIY can do it.
I know its not gonna be perfect show quality paint job, but i figure for abotu 200 bucks i can have a good 10 footer and good daily driver paint.
What do you guys think? I think i might use the hugger orange or the performance red then use 2 coats of clear.
Looking for ideas here... thanks

I dont know the answer to your question, but I must admit I am also interested in this product too. Cant beat that price, and its gotta be better than the "rustoleum roll-on, get screwed in the long run" paint jobs that people keep talking about.

I wouldn't waste my time if it were my car. All that effort to prep, mask, and spray and you can't invest an extra $100-200 for better quality paint/clear coat?

from my recent internet searches, lacquer paint seems to constrict and crack rather easily. one of those "back in the day" things, kinda like lead body filler.

its a different formula than the old style. thats why you can find it just about anywhere. the EPA cut back the use of the old stuff a long time ago because of the harm it was doing to the enviroment. A guy i go to school with (autobody repair) used this to paint his car because he was low on money and to tell you the truth it looks great. as long as you take your time to make sure the primer/old paint or whatever you are spraying it over is prepped correctly then you should be ok. he painted it about a year ago now i would guess and it still looks like it did the first day he painted it. for a daily driver or strip car you couldnt go wrong with it but as a show car you would just embarass (sp?) yourself. but then again if it was a show car im sure you wouldnt have made a thread about cheap paint. i say go for it if you know what you are doing.

Tends to shrink a lot over time and can make necessary repairing the finish often. the overall finish is inferior to that of a basecoat/clearcoat. and like the other guy said, for a little more you can have cheap base/clear that looks way better. If you are looking for something just plain cheap go for it, but keep in mind that the finish is not going to look like base/clear.
I just dont like this trend going around that if you don't have money it justifies butching out a car. Do it right or don't do it at all. Rat rods and similar complete disregard for shiny looks are one thing, but trying to look good with shitty materials is a void in between which I just can't seem to find reason for.

If you want a really decent inexpensive paint go to napa or a real auto paint store and look into either omni from ppg or crossfire from martin senior or something like those...they are a lower line but it's a paint that is really pretty good for the price. Just my .02 but for my last winter beater paintjob it looked damn nice...heres some pics
