Putty
I was coming home from work and the city was putting reflectors down on the road, everybody was going around, and so I followed. The next morning I noticed something all over my baby. The putty that they put the reflectors in is all over my rear quarter on the passenger side. I was a crying so hard that I had started losing my breath. I was told to put diesel fuel on it and it would take it off, but I'd also take my clear coat off. Is there any thing that will take it off without hurting my baby, she don't need a paint job yet!

Was told to try kerosene. Then wash and wax, she needs a washing and waxing anyways.

Re: Putty
One time, I did a huge burnout in my last car, and being FWD it shot molten rubber all up the sides of the white car. Then I let the rubber harden for a few days of daily driving I was too lazy to clean it. Finally, I tried to get it off with some bug-tar but it didnt budge. A fellow member on the monte/lumina forum told me to go get Klean-Strip Painters Prep aerosol at autozone. It worked great. Its really made for spraying on a paintjob if you plan on doing a Maaco job (painting over the old paint). What it does is dissolves any rubbers, dried up bugs, road tar, or leftover wax or polish, in order to allow the new paint to adhere. It softened the rubber right up! Took a few consecutive cleanings, but after it was white again I washed the car really good and waxed it again to replace what the Klean-Strip took off.
Just be careful not to get "Paint Stripper" as it will make your nice paint drip right off!
Also, if worse comes to worse, just take a straight razor and carefully "cut" the pieces off of your paintjob. The razor will probably scuff the clear coat, and in that case you would need to wetsand the area with 1200 grit and then use a highspeed buffer with 3M compound. Then wax the car real good.

Re: Putty
It ended up getting hard enough that I took a screw driver to it and cracked up and came off. I am happy now! Thanks to everyone for their advice.

Re: Putty
Couldn't help it. I thought I was going to have to repaint when the rest didn't need it. I about started when I got it off from being so happy. I better now, and have other things to start worrying about.
