Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

I'm sorry for being rude, but please for the love of everything sacred, stop thinking up crazy ways of changing the look of your car

In other words, I personally think it would look silly.

I think from the front of your car it would look like a rice burner. You know ,with one of those stupid a$$ body kits on it.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

Why would you tear up a perfectly fine 1984 z28 front bumper?????? the 84 styling in my opinion looks the best out of all the third gens.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

Despite my agreeing with the "Don't do it." crowd, I'll actually give you an answer.

The big steel bumper support will be exposed, and it only has 4 studs with nuts on each end. You'll either have it exposed, or hafta cut it to, then make new mounts to hold the centers in place. THEN, the urethane of the front bumper body will be floppy, unless you make new supports to attach it to.

If you go for it, I hope your fabrication skills are up to par. Otherwise, you'll get halfway through, give up, then be looking for a new bumper cover. Which I currently have a spare to sell, so I say go for it! When/if you give up, PM me. I'll sell you mine.

And if your 84 has the aluminum front bumper support....Don't cut that rare, desirable item. Sell it & get a steel one to cut up.

Did you happen to notice the previous headlight modification? If that's an indicator, the fabrication skills aren't there.

I didn't. But your skills aren't there, don't try. Fabrication I did for years. I can do metal, but the urethane I'm not so sure about even trying!

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

What are your actual plans after you cut it out? Just to leave a hole there? Or did you have something else planned?

Right now, I'm thinking you should leave it alone.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

I am not trying to be rude, but I think if you want to learn a usefull skill, and make your car look nice, I would worry more about a new paintjob. Get a good set of HVLP guns, and there are all kinds of online merchants that sell cheap auto paint that is pretty good.

From that picture you posted, the car looks pretty straight. With a nice paintjob it would look awesome I love the 84 z28 body style. But if you think you can keep cutting pieces of your car out untill it looks good - by all means its your ride man do what you want.

Oh BTW you might be interested in some of those "nice body kits" that was posted a while ago.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

He may already know how to paint, or has a buddy who does. But paint wasn't even part of the question.

Body mods,then paint!

For the rear bumper, since I have a Firebird, I wanna swap in a 4th gen WS6 rear bumper center section, with the exhaust notches.

I had a good pic of it on a 3rd gen with the 4th WS6 center section, but my hard drive crashed a few months ago ad I lost it.

No need to cut to get "forced induction". You can use the fog light openings for induction, with only minor inside trimming.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

If you can do a nice job like charged350, I will admire you. But for some reason or other (maybe your headlight eyebrows) I just picture two big hacksaw cuts down the bumper, and the paint looking even worse, and a bunch of metal showing and the radiator.

Well, it's not my cup of tea, but since you're going through with it, I think it would look best if the whole lower spoiler was removed altogether. With the remains of the spoiler on there, the "fangs" will just be to tall, IMHO.

Something has got to drive up the prices of third gens. There will now be one less original car around. That just made everyone else's unmolested car increase 0.0001% in value!!

Randy,

Although I do not agree with the mod, you have my support. Stick to your guns and keep posting the progress.

Charged and Sam we really need to get together some time.

Were those eyebrows an actual "mod". I think if you work slow and take your time you could come out with a pretty good result but dont be a hacksaw take your time your working on a classic car and the price of third gens is sky rocketing right now...

If it makes you feel better, I don't like what charged350 did to that poor car's bumper either. I'm one of those people that generally thinks a stock third gen Camaro is perfect in each and every way. Looks, anyway.

hay randy, chop that bitch up and do whatever you want to do to your car, you know why, because it is your car, but only one thing, take your time and push your fabrication to its limits, and then push it past them, dont cut time and corners. its not worth it, in the end it will be a waste of time...and if you dont like it in the end...get a new bumper and bolt it up...all i have to do to go stock is get a reinforcment bar and a bumper and a gfx and im stock as all hell...the latch bolts back up too...but if i was worried about stock looks, i wouldnt have shaved everything on the car do 4 motor swaps and painjobs and made everything custom...but hay thats just me man...

but i did it not for looks but for performance...runs cooler and better now...and it made more then plenty room for my intercooler plans in there...and if ppl dont like what i did...they dont have to....its my car...noone elses....and everyone is allowed to have an opinion.

i think it would be pretty rad if you got a turbo kitand stuck a nice big intercooler right there. i think it would look pretty sweet.
but if its just have it empty. it looks like a missing tooth when someone smiles.
you could also get some pretty nice looking Grilles for these cars as well
you could stick one of thos on after your cutting it up or something.

Re: cuting frount bumber ?? what do you think

I made my 87 GTA my own...4th gen front seats, 4th gen rear wing, 4th gen side mirrors, and plan more.

I've been chastised been cutting a 1st year GTA. Oh well...It's my car. If I wanna paint it pink, with green stripes & polka dots, so be it!

It's *MY* car, and I'll make it look like *I* want.

I don't agree with your front bumper mod, but I'm not gonna start making nasty comments about it. People use the internet as a shield. 99% of the nasty things people say over the 'net, they won't say in person. If people don't like things, they should just not say anything. It does NO GOOD to mouth off.

If at first you try and fail miserably ..... Burn all evidence that you even tried!
