Re: headlight wobble

I just want to know exactly what is wobbling. You said the motor itself, but is it the complete motor housing, the **** on top of the motor or what?

Re: headlight wobble

If it looks like its struggling to raise its a sign of worn out bushings

Side to side wobble sounds like a broken housing or missing/loose bolt

Re: headlight wobble

what it is is that the **** on the top of the motor can be seen wobbling up and down when the headlight is fully up....the passenger side doesnt do that, but they both do that when they are down....i dont think that it has a hard time going up at all, i replaced the bushings when i first got the car about 4 years ago...it is a real slight wobble, but it can be seen at night when i'm driving....i dont remember how complex the motor/gearbox assembly is, but would it be too difficult for me if i took it all apart and tried to find the loose gear or what not? also, i did tighten all of the mounting bolts, all of the hinging bolts onthe light itself and it did not help at all, the problem lies with the motor itself, it has some play in the gears or something

Ok, I'm going to assume this is the same problem that I had. My driver's side used to wobble too. Whenever I would hit a dip or a speedbump, I could kinda see the light move a little. What I did was to take apart the headlight housing itself, not the motor since the motor was on nice and tight. I couldn't figured out why it was so wobbly until I heard the little squeeking sound and saw that the assembly itself had a nut that broke off.

If you pull out the headlight and look towards the back, you will see the little arms that swing it back and forth. If they are not tight, the headlight will wobble. I replaced the nut that holds the arms joints together with the headlight motor and issue resolved. I hope this helps.

Re: headlight wobble

thanks...yeah that might be my problem...i could see that the arm was moving a little bit, but i assumed it was only moving because of the motor...i'll try that out...thanks

Re: headlight wobble

well today i took my car to my dad's shop (where its not 12 with a windchill factor of -6) and took the headlight apart...i took everything apart on the damn headlight, and it wound up being a stop for the headlight motor, it prevents it from going too far, or from wobbling also....so after adjusting the stop, the wobble went away lol
