Re: rear hatch ?

Your hatch release switch only works when in park or neutral. It will only work it the park/neutral safety switch is hooked up. You should be able to jump it with a battery too. Otherwise someone is gonna have to tell you how to take off the tail lights and find the lock rod for the hatch and twist it.

Re: rear hatch ?

What say you? You have no chance to survive.

I can take pics of the wires. My center console's gone. So is my carpet. And a lot of other things. Like my dignity.

Re: rear hatch ?

worst case scenerio it's just about very simple. Climb in the back, disconnect the hatch shocks (be careful, because of the force you can screw up the threads where the stud goes into if you let it quickly extend on their own), take off the roof plastic piece right over the rear passengers to reveal the hatch bolts, have someone stand outside the car that can support the weight of the hatch, disconnect the four bolts, lift up about 6-8 inches, get a saws-all and cut the first loop of the latch, lift up to about 12-18 inches higher, have the person outside ready to have the weight of the hatch come at them (won't be alot becuase of the angle) and cut the second loop of the latch, and the door will want to slide down, just lower the upper part of the glass back down, put the four bolts back in the holes and bolt them down. Now you can open your hatch without a problem. When all is said and done, if done carefully you won't have to replace any interior panels, and all you will have to do is spend $5 at a junk yard for a new latch bracket and about 20 minutes re-aligning the hatch and all is said and done, and from there you can figure out what your going to do about the keys.

Sounds absolutely extreme, but i've had to do it four times, and each time i haven't harmed the interior panels or the hatch, and as mentioned all you will need to do is go to the junk yard and take the hatch cover off, remove four bolts for a good latch loop, and then go home and replace yours.

Short the black wire in my hand to +12v. Any source of +12v. It should release your hatch. If not, then something is wrong back in the well area, and you're gonna have to remove your tail lights/jiggle the lock rod, or sawzall.

Re: rear hatch ?

It's easier than that, if you don't have a key drill out the lock, open with a screw driver, get a keyed lock and replace.

Re: rear hatch ?

To remove the carpet, one must remove the console.

To acquire new carpet, one must have serious $$.

Re: rear hatch ?

I open hatches in the junkyard by pulling on the cable that goes from the pulldown to the lock cylinder

Re: rear hatch ?

Shorting that wire to +12 didn't work? That sucks.
