Inner fender modifying for rims ?
I just got my hands on a set of 18x9.5 Corvette rims, the lug pattern fits however, the width of the rim is so wide it comes in contact with the lower trailing arm and inner fender well where the shock absorber is mounted. What kind of modification will need to be done and is it worth it. The stance is killer in the rear with 295 or wider tires that I have seen on other 3rd gens, but I don't know what they did to accomplish this task ?

grab a tape measure and look. the corvette rims you have are of a different offset than stock, you need something around a 1.5 or 2" spacer. they will not stick out past the fender if you measure and buy the right one.
with the back of the car up off the ground, but at ride height set the tire in the well where you want it and measure for a spacer.

those are custom wheels with the correct bs and offset.

Regardless... 18x10's ? No matter what bs and/or offset those rims are hella wide. I have 18x9.5 and already am hitting the inside. I emailed about that Camaro and the magazine did not get into detail about the install but they did however say that there are no spacers and moderate modifications were made to accomodate this rim size. My question is , what types of modifications are neccessary in order to put this size of a rim and tire on my Camaro without any interference from objects ?

I have the c5 y2k rims on my 92 GTA. You will need the correct spacers for front and rear to be happy. I run a 2 inch adapter up front. I have a 4th gen rear so I have zero offset on the rears but if you are looking to stuff a big tire in there ideally you will need 1 inch spacers on the back. Thats assuming you are using the stock Corvette 50mm offsets.
The fronts and backs are 18x9.5 rims. I have never had any rubbing from lock to lock and I have the car lowered 1.6 inches front and back. On the back I run a Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R thats 18x26x12.

ive seen guys run 17x11 zr1's without minitubs. just some "minor" hammer mods

, 17x11's are very common, somepeople did not mods, other than spacers, other just had to hammer the front of the wheel well a little. Supreme Member

The rest vette wheels/4th gen wheels will require spacers. To run your vette wheels on a 3rd gen you will need spacers. I suggest going to http://www.skulte.com/ to find out what size you need.
I currently run c5 z06 wheels(not my signature) on my car 17x9.5" front and 18x10.5" rear. Im running 295/35 in the rear with 2" spacers.

I have corvette rims on my camaro too and I didnt use spacers. You will need two inch spacers up front to make them fit but in the rear just find a fourth generation rearend for cheap and replace you third gen. It will mount just like the one you have, it comes with disc brakes and most importantly it is four inches wider, two on each side which will make those wheels fit perfectly. Thats how you mount them without spacers.

I had a horrible time getting my 20X10's fitting in the rear....plus having the air work. I had to hammer alot of the inners and I had to cut out my wheel well lip[s completely. Here is a picture after I cut them...before i finished them up:

The car won't roll with all of the air pressure released....but when I run about 20 lbs in the rear..it's fine. The tires aren't getting damaged....but it is a super tight fit.
Sounds like you might have to mini-tub your car in order to fit that size of a tire with such a wide rim.
