How did it get crumpled like that? It doesn't even seem that some one hit you from the rear? or they sorta t-boned you?
but man you got a dang good deal on that repair job.. That doesnt even pay for labor hours in most body shops.

it was hit like that when i got it. so i don't know the circumstance behind it.

it was not free. but it was $300.00.he took it upon himself to sand down the front spoiler and applying some satin black to it. he said it was killing him to look at that. so i gave him an extra $50. he didn't want to take it but i got him to agree. it looks so much better in the front now compared to before.

he said that i could replace the fender if i wanted too, but he could fix the original. so thats what i wanted. there was no reason to replace the 1/4. the frame was never pushed in. the absorber and impact bar wasn't even that badly dammaged, but they did their job. i can show pics of that too to show u. most of the impact was taken on the body itself. so he used a portaband to straighten out the car.

IMO.alot of people make that mistake. they will replace the pannels instead of having them fixed. the problem isn't the owners, its the body man who doesn't want to be bothered with actually drilling, hammering, and body filling the wholes that were drilled. and then sanding and primmering. yes body fill can be a bad thing. when u use it to totally replace metal. but it must be used to build up uneven metal or when it has been pulled. etc.

but the real bitch of replacing the fender is gapping. its a pain to get the door to fender gap and hood to fender gap to be perfect. so why not fix whats wrong and use the fact gapping that is still there.

They shop did a great job on the body work. Please post pics when you get the paint job. I think that is a great color combo (Red/Black) and that baby will shine again

Its not that some people dont want to have it repaired. its the fact that some people Like me don't trust the use of BoNdO I never have liked it and never will because its a pain in the butt to get straight and it always seems it never is right. I think your car came out good man and it may just be me but I like the thought of just pure metal being on my car :-/ just my opinion.

thanks guys. i understand completely on what u are saying. and i agree to a point. but i have some bad news for ya. all body shops use body fill. no metal is ever perfect. when they prime it,they sand it to reveal any low spots.

then they aplly a thin coat of bondo to raise the area up. but it is very minute. but when it comes to pulling out dents? any holes they drill in the body to help aid in the task at hand, they fill with bondo. they have to.

even if they filled the holes in with meteal circles, they still have to use bondo.
i am not flaming u in any way. i just want u to be well informed.thanks again for ur kind words.
Jay.

Oh I Know Lol. I'm in an auto body class and I know which ever they use it will always be some kind of filler. Whether it be filling primer or BoNdO lol. Thats Why its best to buy it new and keep it in a bubble for ever ;-) heh but Its just some times When I see cars from the sides you know in a reflection, they are all wavy and weren't properly blocked etc etc. Any ways, I hope the best of what comes of your car man . long live 3rd gens.

the back bumper was has not been repainted. those 2 white spots are left-over stickers. i will get them off when she comes home.

Looks good, the drivers side looks really nice, damn shame someone had to mess up the pass side like that, the actual paint looks pretty decent..

yeah it is a shame. its had a repaint, prolly about 6-10 yrs ago. when i first got it,it looked like this: then i spent 6 hrs compounding and buffing it.

as u can see it was badly oxidised but not chipping off.

Re: back from the body shop. w/pics

it looks like the paint on my iroc, which was also repainted some time ago with single stage.. I could defently compound it and buff it to a shine but one of the fenders is a little beat up and the hood is bent on the corner so it would be a losing battle.. it's such minor damage really but it needs to be fixed and there would never be any chance of color matching it.. it's a shame really because its not chipped or anything and it has new looking decals on it that I'll have to replace

i know what u mean,it does suck to have a slightly mangled body with good paint. but that didn't stop me from cleaning her up. go ahead and clean her up man,u'll feel alittle better.

As for the "lift kit", I would be sure the springs are seated correctly. You shouldn't have to drive the car for them to settle down. If the spring is not in it's seat correctly, the front end will sit high, forever.
