Wheel Question

If this is the right place cool if not let me know.
I want to buy a set of Jegs Sport Light wheels. Im going with the 15x7s for the front. The rears is what im having trouble with. I have the 1LE disc's on the rear, but im not sure which one i can go with. Here is the list.

15 x 8 "
Back Spacing: 4.5" or 5.5"
or
15 x 10"
Back Spacing: 4.5," 5.5", 6.5",

I got the choice of a 8" or 10" wheel. I would prefer the 10. I really just need to know what backspacing to use. I would lie a deep dish wheel but not stick out but an inch or so past the rearquarter. But any ideas on the biggest i can use saying that the wheel will clear the 11.6" rotor,. THANKS ALOT

Re: Wheel Question

I haven't gotten the tires to mount on them, but I got a set of 15x10 with a 6.5 backspace. The outer edge is at the same spot as my 15x8s on the car backspaced at 4.5. I wouldn't go out anymore than this as the tread of the tire is basically just under the widest part of the wheel well. The sidewalls of the tires are wider than the car, but tread is pretty much under cover

Re: Wheel Question

Sweet thanks. What are you running tire wise. I'm looking at a 235/50 on front and 245-50. Also running a 3.23 hoping this may help out..

Re: Wheel Question

I'm currently using 155/80/15 fronts and 275/50/15 rears. Have also used 215/65/15 fronts and 275/60/15 rears. The tires I want will be available in probably a month, so we'll see how much work it takes to fit a 325/50/15. On your car I'd put a 235/60/15 (26.1" tall) on the front and either a 275/50/15 (26.1" tall) or a 275/60/15 (28" tall). The shorter rear tire is better to help the gear ratio that you lack.

Was that a joke.lol

Ok I called my old store 235/60/15 for $62 and i think im going to switch to the 15x8 on the fronts. As for the rears I got a 275/50/15 for $65 so If you were in my situation what size wheel on rear I'll do the 8 or the 10

Cooper Cobra GT's by the way.

Re: Wheel Question

I think you could probably do a 4.5" or 5.5" backspace on the front and rears, both wheels being 15x8's. To get the tires placed where they are from the factory, you really need a 5" backspace. There really isn't any reason to go with the 10" wide wheel unless you have plans of using a tire wider than a 295. Tire height is a gear tuning too also. Those two different tires make a 500rpm difference for me in the 1/4mile.

Re: Wheel Question

You might want to head over to the chassis/suspension board. A lot of the guys on that board are REALLY good with the offset/wheel size questions..
