Need Info on the 84 Aerokits
Need Info on the 84 Aerokits
Hi there folks.. Was just wondering if anyone knows any info on the Aerokits that were available 84 onwards, but first appeared on the 83 Daytona pace car. I'm trying to find out if anyone still reproduces them either with the original crappy ABS plastic or the newer better Fibreglass. I've currently got one on my 83, Recaro Edition below.
Would much appreciate any help on this matter.. Thanks

They aren't really anything more than the standard GFX package that became standard on all 85-90 TAs.
There are cosmetic differences, but from a functional standpoint they are the same. The 85-90 TAs lost the bumperettes, and had a few other changes but i'm not an expert on the differences.

Do you think there is much demand for these 84 Aero body kits to be brought back.. In a way i'm kinda answering my own question and I suppose the only way I'm gonna know is If I'm selling them, I suppose.. What do you think??

They are indeed scarce because they were only produced for a few years, and as an option. However with the inclusion as standard on all the 85-90s they really aren't that high in demand as they don't look significantly different, unlike the 91-92 body style which really change the look of the car.

As far as each individual piece is concerned there is no relation between the 1985-90 W62 Aeropackage.
The Front lower chin spolier, the rockers, doors, and rear pieces are all different.
I have seen a few of the pieces advertised by some of the companies that make fiberglass body panels for drag-cars. VFN makes a set, but I do not know how close it is to the original. As far as I know the parts have never been reproduced in OEM style.
Come check out the 82-84 Firebird zone, we can answer your questions.

A bit off topic, but I never thought i'd see one of those again. I personally took these pics of a "Dark knight" Camaro at a car show a few years ago. It looked interesting at best and I assumed it came from a single dealer.
