Stock Fiberglass TA hood???
Anyone know where I can get one?
VFN only lists firebird and formula hoods.
ASCD is no help either.
Every site I check pretty much only carries RA hoods. That's not what i'm looking to get.
Would somebody care to share some info?

Re: Stock Fiberglass TA hood???
do you mean a fiberglass hood that looks like the 85 and up T/A hood with the 4 vents? I've never seen one like that for sale. The best you can probably do is get a flat one and cut into it for the vents. Beware that it's very tough to get an aftermarket fiberglass hood to fit as well as a stock steel hood does. I was pretty disappointed with the fit of a Ram Air hood that I bought.

ive never seen one either, like said above, you will most likely have to buy a regular one and fit the vents

This blows. Yeah, I want a stock TA hood in fiberglass with the 4 vents. I want to replace my heavy steel one.
The RA hoods just aren't quite doing it for me.

Nobody knows of anything? A rumor? Whisper? Possibility? Shred? Twinkle? Nuance?
Hmm.

Get a stock fibreglass hood and cut the holes for the vents.
To easy to put in the vents, why no one ever made one.

Yeah, you just get the flat hood and cut for the vents. It's a pain, but if you do it right, it looks good. Fiberglass bolt on hoods arent much lighter by the way. (Maybe 8 pounds difference)

the vents are not that simple to put in, cutting a hole and popping them in wont work.
they sit recessed, so they are flush with the surface of the hood. You will have to do some fiberglassing to the underside of the hood to mount them. Not a huge deal if you know what you are doing, but far from just cutting hole.
the side louvers actually snap in, so not sure how you would do that with fiberglass, unless you just slathered them up with resin and "glued" them to the hood

Smart person would cut outside the vents, that way all you need is a square hole. No need to reinvent the wheel making a recess lip and such
Though you will have to glass them in on the under side and smooth it out on top. But when you deal with glass parts there is always finish work to be done.

Re: Stock Fiberglass TA hood???
Im going to be doing something similar, Gett the vents cut out of a steel hood but they won't be going into a hood.
The front nose vents will be going into my A-pilers.
Dunno what to do with the smaller ones up farther.
Why? Air flow, two widows down isn't enough to make air flow well through the car. Don't have AC and often its hotter in the car then outside..
Not gonna do T-tops but need a way to get air to flow like 4 windows down.
I do have a notch back on [see sig] and a friend suggested a custom window like a truck with a sliding window but thats to hookey.
