Functional SS hood

I feel pretty dumb asking this but I am gona ask it anyways....
I really dig the SS hood.Everywhere I look I can't seem to find a functional one.I also cant seem to find any pics of the underside of the hood to see if it would be possiable to cut the hood, and, er...MAKE it functional.
Just wondering if anyone could help me.I apologize in advance for asking such a dumb question.

Cut it out. I cut a few big holes in mine with a drill bit.

Re: Functional SS hood

I cut the front of mine with a dremel, and with a 1" spacer under the carb,it puts the air cleaner directly in line with the hood grill.I'm not sure what benefit it has
but it must have some effect.

Re: Functional SS hood

I think some people have made a airbox that seals to the carb, for the ss hood.Do a search on ss hood, and you might find it.

Cheers,
Alicat.

Re: Functional SS hood

For the fuel injection guys...it's pretty much not an option at all to make the SS hood functional for true "Ram Air". The front of the hood comes nowhere close to the intake...and absolutely no room for any type of airbox. As for carb...it might be different.

Re: Functional SS hood

The American Sports Car Design's hood was functional to begin with. Mine is, and it works well with the TBI/Open element for my car. I don't know if they're in business anymore or not, though. Might be able to find one.
