I'm cleaning up my engine compartment and was wondering how I might get the inside of radiator overflow reservoir cleaned out. I've never tried to get one clean as new, but I would guess it's mostly stains. Anybody tried bleach?

yeah, lots of folks have used bleach and had good results and those that had bad results just spent like $13 for a new part.Last I knew they were still cheap anyway!?I don't know what the current price is.

Dishwasher powder works. Take a little bit of water (About a cup) and a lot of dishwasher powder (About a cup and a half) pour it all in and shake the crap out of it for about 15 minutes.
Still easier to buy a new one though...

I never thought of looking for a new one. I'll try everyone's cleaning suggestions and if the NOS one is identical to the original, I'll save it for later when I ever get around to a restoration.

Yep, and I only paid about $20 for it.

You can see why with the pic below.

Re: How To Clean Radiator Overflow Reservoir
I replaced mine with a tank from a 1990's Ford Explorer - it's a nice clean sqaure shape that I mounted on the driver's side in the same spot that the battery sits on the pass side, and it looks nice - since it does radiator and winshield fluid, I killed two birds so to speak. Sorry no pics - car is in the paint shop getting too much money thrown at it
