frame protection

Hey i was wandering since im going to be putting in a 383 with around 430 horse how to i keep the frame from bending because i know some people who took there cars to the track and bent their frame on the first run. So i was wandering how to keep this from happening to me. Thanks

That doesn't really happen.

You can put in subframe connectors, if you want to stiffen up the car in general. But these cars don't have "frames" per se, so you could bend the unibody, but without full on race slicks, upgraded suspension parts, all you'll do is spin anyway....

If you have a 383, I wouldn't stomp on it untill you have subframe connectors. I would also have them welded.
A roll cage will help too.

Do you have T tops? If you do subframe connectors are almost a must if your upgrading the HP and Torque. Better safe than bent.

hardtop, t-top, no top, it doesnt matter, all thirdgens flex too much and will benefit from a good set of SFC.

ok so im not really understanding what your getting at by sub frame connectors the kid i bought the car from origanally but this rigged up metal beem from the rearend too up front right under holding the tranny up so is this somthing like your talking about

thats a torque arm and if its not right could give you some issues

what we are talking about ties the front and rear subframes with metal tubes or boxed frame extentions

Look in the suspension forum and search for subframe connectors. There's lots of info there.
