Re: back in black

dont ever let these guys who are "painters" that get force feed the paints they use by reps tell you that you cant spray $22 gal implement paint and then use under $100 clear.

I will post agian when I clear the body. just couldnt wait to drive her anymore

I am interested about how the ground effects would go on this. Black is another cool color at least it's not a stereotype red.

Re: back in black

not only does the paint look great, but I like what you have done under the hood. i like the blacked out tpi setup and the red wires. can you get red connectors for that air intake? great job on the paint! how long did it take? and how much did it cost?

Re: back in black

tractor paint with lots of harder and reduced more than called for

after a week or so depending on weather sand with 600 wet and get her a bit smoother

spray with clear mixed as directed

Re: back in black

what a gorgeous paint job. Now I just need to buy the house I'm looking at so I can have a garage to build my makeshift paint booth in!

Re: back in black

I am thinking of challenging the myth of painting in the cold

I plan to reduce the enamel big time and give plenty of dry time

dont forget the hardener

I really like enamel better than base because of the durability factor

I have painted wood, metal, concreate, my heater vents in the house with tractor paint and man does it hold well.

Re: back in black

bringing this thread back from the dead...

I actually bought that house I mentioned above, last june actually. Got married, did some responsible adult investing (sump pump, electric, hardwood floors, etc.) and now I'm ready to pull that bird in the garage, perform an LT1 swap and paint her good.

I'm really just looking to see how jamon's paint is holding up? I've read a few posts on the tractor paint theory, seems superior to the rustoleum everyone is using. I'd really like to top the implement paint with clear to reduce maintainence as far as waxing/buffing.
