Rusty Fender - Help

I want to repair this fender since I got a parts car for this reason and I need to learn anyway. The one bolt I had to grind off and there are like 2 small rust holes. How would I go about repairing this? What about the clip where the bolt is? The rest of the fender is in perfect shape and the one on my car now would not really be repairable. I hit a stop sign from sliding and it also bent my mirror.

Re: Rusty Fender - Help

I was reading online and took a grinder to it which removed some of the rust but there were spots I couldn't off and holes started popping up? How do I go about this?

cut out the rot and weld in a patch. I hope you don't plan on using the fender because welding on fenders will usually warp them unless your very careful.

haha then I'd say be very careful or could you get pics of the damage? if its just little pinholes you might get away with applying rust converter then fiberglassing it.

Re: Rusty Fender - Help

I going to take more pictures tomorrow but I cut out a square. I don't think I can do this because as I uncovered some paint it looks like the whole bottom part is rusted and I can't bend sheet metal like that lol

Re: Rusty Fender - Help

Since there is rust from top to bottom is there a way I can cut, weld and bend sheet metal to do this?

Yup that thing is done. Finding clean fenders isn't exactly hard.

Re: Rusty Fender - Help

Your best bet for that would be to replace it. Second best would be to find another fender with a decent bottom on it, cut it off and weld it to the one you have. At that point though, you might as well just replace it with the fender you found.
