Well thanks, thanks alot I'm 16 but im dads 61. Ya, my dads older than all my friend's dads and thats why this car is so important to me. I know my dad won't be here forever and unfortunatly probably not as long as my friend's dads. So building this car is not only my dream, not to mention to drag race it with him, but to keep it and have all those memories of him in the car that I spend every waking moment thinking about. Kinda like after hes gone everytime I drive it I'll think about him and how much he helped, and yes spoiled me with this car. After saying that, I should say that I tried to pay for the motor and the turbo, but he still puts in way more money than he should. I saved up just under 3,000 over two years, but he still help me buy it, the motor and turbo together cost about 4,000 dollars.

Yeah i've always love chevy and expecially the camaros my father had 2 camaros a 1974 and a 1976 along with a 197* T/A. I've always admired how my fathers a mechanic and how he always knew what hes doing. Never doubted him on anything he would think would be the problems. I bought my own camaro; a 1989 camaro rs for $600 and hope that i could fix it up with him and to have the memories while i drive it of him just in case something happened to him. I never really got to spend much time with my father and to be with him when my parents divorced... not to many memories when i was younger than 8 with him sadly.. So i'm trying hard to learn and understand my car and to make him proud of me and actually smile over my own achievements for once... Originally Posted by 89T-top

Awesome car, I have a question.
I've looked at the website of godspeed and Im not seeing any type of turbos made for camaros, but I didn't look hard enough I guess.
I was just curious on how much one of those cost, because Im looking at a superchargers, but I haven't really ever seen much turbos for made for these third gen camaros.
Keep up the good work man.

So, taking into account I'm only 19, I work at a garage as an apprentice mechanic and I must say your drive and passion would put guys I work with to shame. If all of us at 16 years old (myself included) were as motivated and level headed and honest as you this world would be a better place. Where I live is a Oil town so every kid expects to get everything handed to them from mommy and Daddy. I personally saved and bought my dream car with all my own money and am restoring it with my money so it makes me sick when little punks have this thought that they have the right to have a certain vehicle. A girl I went to school with got a brand new Rumble Bee for her 16h birthday and she refused to drive it because she didn't like that it was so yellow, made daddy sell it and buy her some little civic or some crap. You are truly a credit to kids your age and it's so refreshing to see some straight edge youth not afraid of a little work to get what he wants. And the respect you have for and relationship you share with your dad is a whole other topic... I'm not easily impressed but I'll hand it to you, you impress the hell out of me. Keep the good work coming and that car will be cherry. Congrats to you and your father on not only the beautiful car but on such a strong father-son relationship. My daddy walked out on me when I was a baby so I really admire what your father has done for you and the respect you show him for it. Keep us Posted and hats off to you!

Great looking project car you've got there, and it's really cool that you get to do with your dad. I'm soon to be 18, and would love to do a project car with my dad, but he works out of state and he always complains about how he has worked on cars too much already
You're a very respectable person, especially for being only 16. Best of luck to you, and let me find you on Pinks one day!

my dads dream car when he was growing up was a corvette. my grandfather told him that he would never be able to afford one but he worked at it and aventually got his 1980 l-82 corvette. then he sold that and bought a 99vette. when I first went to look at my iroc the interior reminded me so much of the 1980 vette, I was just about sold from the start. with all that said. keep us posted and keep your cardomain site updated.

why did we buy a pre 86 motor, number one we didn't want to go fuel injected and parts are easier to find for carb'd pre 86 motors o and the camaros not even an 86 its 85
infact heres a pic of me right by the car when we took the motor out

Man thats pretty cool, my dad grounded me and ripped the battery out of my iroc when i got it at 17. All i can say to you is dont be scared to jump head on into anything you will figure it out and if you dont get it right the first time you got the rest of your life to figure it out. I pulled my transmission and rebuilt it with no prior mechanical experience all i had was a shop manual and a rebuild kit from a tranny shop. didnt work the first time because i didn't engage the converter completely and blew the pump but i got it right the next time and now i chirp 2nd. nice to see another kid taking on a big project im workin on a 496 topped with a single plane efi system and ima shoot that thing full a nitrous

Well I live in East TN so it doesn't get too cold, but it does get below freezing a little bit, but I need it to get warm enough to paint the motor compartment. We have a two car garage but moms car is in one bay, and alot of junk along with my fourwheeler is in the other. The garage is pretty small so you don't really have room on the sides when you pull the car in. When it gets warm enough we'll paint it outside then we place the mounts and put in the motor and tranny Originally Posted by RTGTA

I have to admit I am jealous. not just of the car but being able to do that with your dad. My dad likes camaros like I do (his first car was a 1970 Camaro) but he lives too far away to be able to do something like this with me. Not to mention he just doesn't know much about the inner workings of cars. So I'm tackling this project on my own. I still thank the Good Lord for what I do have with my dad and I'm glad there's still kids out there who appreciate their parents. I'm 21 and my dad is 51 and so I know I won't have forever with him. Almost lost him last year so I know not to take parents for granted.

This is an excellent learning experience for you, and I'm glad to hear a sentimental build as well. I hope above all things, that you not only keep that appreciative outlook on things, but respect what that automobile will be capable of when it's complete.
Although I did not have a father figure in my life ever, I managed to work enough to purchase my dream cars in this life at a young age as well and the one thing that I will never forget is $21,000 in speeding ticket, court fines, license revocation and restoration fees, insurance surcharges and other various costs associated with not having respect for authority.
Take it from someone who went from criminal to soon to be cop --> keep that right foot enthusiasm dedicated to the track instead of the streets and you'll be in good shape.
Best of luck with the rest of the build!
