Re: t-top fits???
i think there is a slight difference in the ttops around the 86 model. i have three sets of ttops here and dont see a problem switching locks.

Re: t-top fits???
There were 3 styles of T-top latch used that I know of. The first style used a hook to secure the tops, I don't believe you can swap the mechanism on that one to yours but I could be wrong about that. It was used up till about 84. The second style was similiar to yours it just used a thinner pin. Those you should be able to swap easily enough. They were used up till 89 I believe. The style you have should be the "large" pin where they basically put a thicker plastic sleeve over the thinner pin used on the earlier ones. You should be able to pry that sleeve off with a screwdriver and slip it on a top with the thinner pin to get it to fit. Your best bet would be to find someone with the glass tops who is looking to save some weight and see if they will trade you. Other than that, I see them on Ebay and Craigslist all the time.
P.S - Don't quote me on the exact years of the changes.

Re: t-top fits???
His tops should fit your Camaro just fine. They are interchangeable from Firebird to Camaro and vice versa within the same years. $19 each isn't bad at all. For that price I'd be tempted to grab a pair just to have an extra set laying around.

Re: t-top fits???
i heard that late models are wider on the roofs? thats 90-92 anyways, and then the large pin and small pins, the pins can be changed out, i heard thats no problem, along with the locks and that, but ur best off using wat u got untill u find a pair that u can test fit in person or something, or do more research, cuz mines an 87 with large pin, i kno people that have large pins on later and earlier years, same with small pins, earlier and later.... hope this helps
Re: t-top fits???
well i compared my friends firebird to my camaro's tops and there were some differences... his is glass (what i want), mine is thicker than the glass ones. i do not know if that will make a difference. its about 1/8th thicler. when it comes to sealing things that a big gap. i am planing on getting new seals so maybe they will be tight to the seals if they have no memory cause new. and his 91 has the small pins. im gonna go to a yard near cabellas in harrisburg, pa this weekend trying to get some glass ones to try out. and i also need a front bumper and ground effects. you guys dont know how much help you have been. ill keep posted

87cmroiroc305ho - I can't see GM changing the size of the T-tops just for 2 years' worth of production. That would require changing the entire roof structure as well as making new tops. Are you sure you're not thinking of Factory T-tops vs. Aftermarket Conversions? I could see how those would be different sizes.
luckytempo93 - Let us know how you make out there. Which yard are you going to? My brother is near there (Lancaster), but he doesn't know enough about 3rdgens to pull the parts I need for mine. Let me know if they have a decent selection of them.

Re: t-top fits???
At the moment, the biggest thing I need is a pair of front seat belt buckles in red. I swapped mine over from ones I found in the u-pull near me, but the driver's one is destroyed and the passenger one is not in the greatest shape but at least its usable. Other than that, I was just looking for some odds and ends. I could use fuel lines from the tank to the engine as mine are rusty and I don't want them to start leaking. I'm near Johnstown, its about 75 miles east of Pittsburgh.
If you could get me the address so I can mapblast it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: t-top fits???
the plates that the pins lock into can be changed
just make sure you get them along with the t's
my 91 in my post had the plastic spider crack garbage- but they were lighter
I think the glass looks so much better

Re: t-top fits???
Great, thanx for the address and link. Looks like I definitely need to get out there.
Hows he like it out there by raystown? I've been out there with some friends camping and fishing a few times, seems like a great area to live in.

Re: t-top fits???
Yeah, I can't stand traffic congestion either. I probably won't be able to make it out the yard till March or April, but I'll definitely let you know before I go.
