WHAT ARE THESE?!?!?!

I was under my car the other day and I could not figure out what these are for. I am missing one because its broken, and the remaining one has lots of road rash. They are plastic. Any ideas?

Re: WHAT ARE THESE?!?!?!

My gf hit a curb parking and broke one off my car. When I tried to buy a replacement I was told they were there for transporting purposes when new and where actually supposed to be removed by the dealer.

Was that a load of crap by a parts guy so he didn't have to look it up ... maybe.

Re: WHAT ARE THESE?!?!?!

I concur with the above. I think they were made for transportation purposes off the trailer or something. I had them in my Trans Am and removed them...

Re: WHAT ARE THESE?!?!?!

I've always thought they were used on the assembly line, for moving the chassis, before any suspension/wheels/tires were put on.

Something had to support it during assembly.

Re: WHAT ARE THESE?!?!?!

Good to know. I melted one off my Bird with my propane heater. I had the car on stands and the heater under the car where I was working. Beauty to know it isn't that important.
