Removing hood....help?

This sounds really dumb, but how do you remove a Camaro hood? I was at a junkyard today and wanted to pull a Black Z-28 hood but couldn't get the damn thing off....first of all, the hang downs on the edge of the hood make it very hard to get a screwdriver in there, and for the ones I could, I couldn't bude those screws.

Is there a special tool I need or just a large phillips screwdriver? Anyone who's removed a hood before, could you post a walkthrough?

Once again I feel dumb but all help is appreciated

if its anything like a trans am hood...there are 4 bolts that hold the hood on. (2 on each side)
Follow the hood shocks. The bolts are up there....or should be.

i dont know what the hell you are talking about, what are hang downs..... what is bude those screws mean.

when talking a hood off there are 2-13mm bolts on each side of the hood. when you open the hood, look at the hinges, you cant miss them

Yes I know where the bolts are, they look like oversized Phillips head screws, but what do I use to remove them?

As for the hang down on the hood or whatever you want to call it, the hood literally bends down and has a side lip kind of thing...can't describe it too well or find any pictures, but it basically acts as a cover over the top of one of the bolts.

like i said normally there are 13mm bolts, they may however be torx bits, from the sound of what you describing. you could however remove the hood hinge where it meets the fenders. thats like four bolts on each side at the bottom, and remove the hood with the hinge attached and post pics of the screw/bolts on the hood and see if we can figure it out for ya. but really if you having a hard time with it, remove it with the hinge attached, get it home and go from there.

Yeah I think I might, it's a shame I missed out on that hood. Can't go back til next week. I was just frustrated that I didn't have a tool to take it off with, I didn't even think of trying to take the hood hinges including! D'oh
