Hood won't stay up

I've had this problem for a while, the hood needs some ugly metal bar that the guy I bought the car from to hold the hood up, I guess the "shocks"(?) aren't working anymore.

How do I fix this?

Thanks for the help guys.

Time for new hood struts.... http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...questid=463995

Easy as pie! You could put them on in the parking lot (with a screwdriver & pliers) & be done.

I didn't know it was OK for TGO sponsors to post "help", by posting what THEY sell? Never mind that their price is higher than the solution that was already offered to the OP.

Re: Hood won't stay up

just did mine today. one had been replaced before, but it might still be a little weak. i replaced the older one which was totally shot. it stays up now, but not as well as i would like, so i might replace the other as well. I paid 22+tax at my local carquest, so the 1a price seems pretty good.
1a is a great company, they are very helpful and their customer service and shipping speed is excellent. I ordered a inside door handle last week and it arrived on the second day.
