If you have, how the **** did you get the pin bushing out of the hinge?

 

I just did this. I removed both doors from the car, took the spring off the hinge, and then I used a dremel to grind the mushroomed end of the roller pin smooth so I could pound it out of the hinge with a punch and hammer. Hope this helps a little bit. You will have to do alot of pounding.

remove the head as descibed above.I ended up cutting a groove in the collar that the pin sits in(with a dremmel tool).working the pin out in a vice then replacing the new roller and pin and welding the collar.I snapped the pin off on my original hinge and bought a used hinge from Lon at TDS.I could not imagine attempting this with the doors on the car.Be very carefull not to put the new roller in to far or it will not spin!Tap it in a little at a time.

 

Just completed replacing those roller bushing pins, figured i'd add my opinion and tips..

1. removed door, and placed on non-marking work horses.
2. with a zizz-wheel(cut-off wheel) cut into the pin, and shaft holding the pin. Cut should be about 1 1/4" long and should penitrate about an 1/4". If you look into the cut, you should see a faint line where the pin and the shaft meet. If you happen to hit the hinge with the ziz-wheel, no worries, you can hit it the welder when your ready.
3. clamp a large size vise grip to ipn, and with a large hammer, pund on the vise-grips as close to the pin as possible without hitting the door of course. Pin should come right out, with a few good wacks!
4.weld up what you cut out, grind it down flush, check for slag or debris in the shaft(may need to clean out with a similar size drill bit).
5. place new bushing on pin, gently line up with a couple soft wacks of a hammer.
6. when lined up, pound it in the rest of the way!
7. celebrate!!!

Try a good air hammer with a flat chisel bit. Usually drives them right out.

 

Anyone know how i can get this roller pin out? Tried the above mentioned method of heating it up and clamping the vice grip to the pin and beating it but its not moving.

nevermind, got it out using the method of cutting a groove in the collar. Came right out afterward.

 

Reversed straight claw hammer just resting against hinge and about a dozen wackes from a 3lb hammer and that pin will come right out! "ON CAR". did mine yesterday now need to get it in a million little taps.......to be continued.
