Pics of new L-88 hood
This is an L-88 style hood from VFN fiberglass, has a 4" rise, and the rise spans the entire hood, rather than just in the middle like most reproductions and the old vettes....
Just thought I would share!.......Opinions are welcome, seems like most people are mixed on it.....they either like it or hate it, either way wont effect my opinion on it at all, I think its an awesome hood......used to have one similar to it on a second gen. Ive allways liked this style of hood.

That looks neat. Looks almost like the batmobile hood from the original with Michael keaton and jack nicholson.

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
I like it.That being said, I wish the hood photos would show the under side so we can see if its a real cowl opening and such. I mean when you pop the hood what do you see?I realize the new hoods are bare but at a later date allot of guys place heat pads on top, but I like some nice paint.

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
its open all the way to the back.........when driving I can easily see the top half of my motor through it, its very rigid too, a lot stronger with less flex than any other fiberglass hood i have ran before....

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
thanks a lot everyone, does anybody know where to get that plastic crate typr material........you know like whats on the back of a cowl hood, its just plastic mesh type stuff with millions of little holes in it to breath.
Gona go look at home depot today and see if I can find anything similar too cut and fit inside the back of this new hood.......probly just use some kin of epoxy to hold it in place....

Very nice photo of the underside ,looks great. Like the fact that the hood is so much lighter than my steel one.

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
I think the L-88 hoods are cool, but I dunno, I kinda have mixed feelings on this one. I don't love it or hate it really. I think I would like it alot better if it was painted the same color as the car. I think it's cool that you're doing something different though and I look forward to seeing pics with everything the same color.

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
I like it. Plus any added ventilation/ heat extraction always a good thing, especially if you have a motor that already makes alot of heat, lke my bbc. Would be much appreciated in Texas heat on either my 92 or my 70 camaro.

Re: Pics of new L-88 hood
Also, i contacted VFN about an L-88 for a third gen Firebird and here was their response.
Hi.
Thanks for your interest in our products!
We can, but because we do not have a mold setup for this option, it does get to be a pricey option. This is because we would make the factory style hood, the scoop and then join both pieces together.
The finished product would be one solid piece - hood and scoop - with the hole on the underside of the scoop opened up for clearance.
The price breakdown of this option would be:
price of the hood - $399.00 bolt on / $299.00 pin on
price of the scoop - L88 Style $120.00
and
price of labor and materials - $250.00.
This would put the price of the hoods at $669.00 for a pin on and $769.00 for a bolt on.
Thanks again!
And have a great day!

Old thread, but same beautiful design. I think the is the best L-88 hood I've seen on a thirdgen yet. The others looked out of place.
