It will probably be cheaper to replace the fender instead of fixing it. We sell Firebird fenders for between $50 and $75 each. If your rear bumper needs to be replaced we sell those for around $50 as well.

It's tough to tell how bad your quarter panel is damaged so I think you may need to post some better pictures to get a more accurate estimate.

I agree with thirdgen, you will save $$ on the fender by buying a used straight one, they are cheap and plentiful. As far as cost goes, I cannot tell you beacuse I don't live in the area. Your best bet would be to drive it down to the local bodyshops and get some estimates. Ask for a price sheet with the calculated body hours on the different body parts. That way you can compare the price of fixing the damaged one vs. buying a used one.

the bumper and fender will be easy. replace them. the quarter panel is a pain. recreating a body line isint the easiest in the world. trust me i did it. i cant give an estamint on it tho

Re: Pricing on '92 Firebird Damage..

From the picture it looks like you would probably be better off buying a door as well. We've got plenty of nice 91-92 Firebird doors as well if you need one. As far as the quarter panel damage goes, I think you might be better off going to a few shops for estimates. It's just too hard to tell from the picture how bad the damage is.

Re: Pricing on '92 Firebird Damage..

I would recommend asking the body shop HOW they will fix the damage. Some shady shops will simply slap ten pounds of bondo on it and call it a day. They SHOULD be hammering metal out and welding in new metal if necessary. Bondo should only be a skim coating to blend the lines.
Good luck ~ Alex

Re: Pricing on '92 Firebird Damage..

I agree. But if the body shop is any good, that would be a pretty simple fix. Its really easy to get behind the rear quarter there. The door could be fixed but its hard to get behind there to push it out. Definately easier and quicker to replace the door labor wise and with the hourly rate, probably cheaper too. The fender is gone. With the bends it would be hard to shape it back to original.

We're about 30 minutes south of Chicago so depending on where you're at in Wisconsin you may be able to pick up a door and fender from us and save on shipping.

(You may not realize it but shipping on a fender will run about exactly the same as it will for a door even though the door is much heavier. With items that size shipping prices are based on size, not weight.)

Why don't you have him teach you?? If I knew someone who did good bodywork i'd try to learn all I can from them.

You could also just get a new door skin, that would definitely cost less to ship. Not sure about the prices on those tho..
