Third gen factory Z28 fog lights

Question. Are there any physical difference from factory 1985-1989
Fog lights then from 1991-1992 Fog lights? Are the mounting brackets any different? Also, when placing fogs on a non original equiped Z, what all is required? I assume the lights, brackets, switch, wiring, and bulbs.
Are the metal ports surrounding the lights required as I noticed some of the ports look different depending on the year model?

I hope so but in the classic industries catalog there are different part numbers...
In the catalog it shows you purchased a 91-92 grill...
Im hoping the only physical difference is the camaro vs bowtie emblem...

maybe someone will chime in hear and help us with the fog lights.
I found a set that go to the 91-92...Not sure if they are the same as the earlier years though.

i noticed that too, which is why I said IF it works. If not, I didn't over pay for it, so I bet I can sell it. I like that it comes with that removeable plate holder.

Re: Third gen factory Z28 fog lights

The grills in question are interchangeable. The Camaro GM part number is 14081332; the bowtie 10139545.

From the following site: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/index.c...TOKEN=43475709

The first is $51.58, the second $56.89. Shipping is high, but you'd still come off cheaper in the end, I'd suspect.

The same. The RH fog I purchased for my 85 IROC has the same GM part number as the 91:

Lamp, Fog R-H 5974580
Lamp, Fog L-H 5974579

BTW, in the ebay sale, though the ad mentions 82-92, the grill will only fit 85+.

Thanks James.
One more question. Do you happen to know if the fog light lenses are a replaceable part?
I bought a set of fogs from a member here and both the lens on each are cracked.
Really sux!

No factory new replacement. Sit down when you see the price of a new unit!

Re: Third gen factory Z28 fog lights

Here it is installed....

It's not a direct fit, there are seveal screw holes that hold it to the brace behind the grill that are not on the brace on the RS.

There were enough that were there that it worked ok, but I had to use the licence plate holder to hold it in place. Not including the licence bracket, there's only two screws holding it one

If I want to later, I could make it work better, but I think it's ok now

There is somthing about the stock fogs for our cars that I just hate... To me, they just seem to big and bulky for where they are mounted... I removed mine and went with a 4th gen style for a fraction of the cost...

When I replaced the louvered grille with a fog light grille on my old 88 sport coupe I had to drill out holes on the outside edges of the center section of the nose.I believe there are 2 on each side.

Does anyone know what the voltage is suppose to be for 3rd Gen IROC foglights? I am getting 24 volts to mine and that doesn't seem correct!

12V-14.5V depending if the car is running or not.

24V is not right at all, either something is up with your meter giving you a false reading, or you have something going on with the car and I wouldn't run it like that. not good.

Yeah, if you're really at 24v, those fog lights will be the least of your concerns.

Re: Third gen factory Z28 fog lights

It is just the fog light circuit that reads 24v. Every other circuit is 12v. I was just making sure that I was correct in thinking that circuit wasn't suppose to have 24v. I can only assume that something is wrong with the switch or something else. I do have a couple problems with the wiring on the car. (As expected considering it has sat in a she most of it's life where squirrels and rats could mutilate the harness!)

I think the fog lights look cool like that. And don't worry about the bumper. Lol even I replaced the fog lights on my Trans Am and the bumper needs a lot of work.
