I tried the search and couldn't really find anything about it. I am wondering if the t-top is interchangeable between the Camaro and Firebird within years. Not the glass/lexan, tha actual roof/t-bar. Basically, I have a rusty t-top that is pretty bad and was wondering if I could get away with using the t-top roof off a donor Camaro on my Firebir or if they were different in some way. it's an '88, so what years would be ok/the same? I understand that some of the years varied the t-top glass, so maybe the roof is different? Just trying to figure out my option before I spend a lot of time repairing the rust.

 

there are 2 different style t-tops, factory and the C&C ones.

as for the roof, im pretty sure the sheet metal for the birds and camaros room is the same.

 

should be - the tops themselves are interchangable - I replaced my lexan tops with glasstops from a bird.

Look up madhatter. He had a long thread on here a while back(maybe a year or two ago) about his roof swap. He bought a hardtop car and wanted t-tops so he swapped the entire roof. He should be able to answer your questions.

I might - I'd have to go hunting in my many junk piles to see. Not sure you'd want them though, they were crackled the way all the lexan tops get. I still have to get my locks out of them and put into the glass tops so I can lock them too. But if interested, I'll look and see.

Does anyone know if you can buy replacement t-top seal channel metal? You know the little lip that the t-top seals slide/slip into up there, can that metal channeling be gotten anywhere but another donor car or am I going to have to make that out of some sort of preformed metal and welding if I don't replace the whole top of the car?

No, but I'll need that as well. I'm after the part that is part of the car chassis. On the roof rail under that along the rear and front parts is a channel that the seal fits under that is either part of the car or a welded in channel. Either way, I find it more and more unlikely that this piece can be purchased. I think I will have to grind to smooth metal and fabricate something and weld it in myself. I was just curious. Would make life easier for sure...
