Weight Reduction?

I plan on shaving as much weight as I can off the body before I get the car painted this summer, any information on where I can find certain panels or any other weight reduction tips I may have overlooked would be appreciated.

I am running a big block with iron heads, 700R4, currently a 10 bolt but plan on going to a 12 bolt when the rear gives out. Car is currently being built for full time track.
So far I have:
- Removed heater core
- Removed passenger seats
I plan on purchasing:
- Tube K-Member
- Plastic Fuel Cell
- Aluminum seat
- Lexan hatch glass replacement and side windows
- Fiberglass front end & doors

Anything else you guys can suggest to reduce weight? Is it realistic to be able to shoot for the car to hit the scales without a driver at under 3200 lbs with my current drive train and a 8 point cage?

It's possible to hit your goals. This is especially true with Lexan glass replacements. I'm guessing this is for a track car?

That surprises me given how bulky the 4th generation dash is.

Re: Weight Reduction?

Okay thanks. I'm not switching dashes or taking the dash out but I figured a lot of weight could be removed in glass, next questions is removing that weight off the rear hatch is that a good or bad idea? I mean that back glass may be heavy but that's about the only weight over the axle. Or I can put the fuel cell and bottle there to try and compensate for it a little bit.
